Hi, Julie,

Western Michigan covers a bit of territory so I'll give you an example for a search that you can follow.  I use Google or Dogpile as my search engine.

If I needed transition info in the Grand Rapids area I would do a search using    transgender resources Grand Rapids, MI    Insert your town and see how it goes.  The larger the city, the more resources is what I have found.

You can change the search to   transgender Grand Rapids, or wherever.  By loosening the search terms you cast a wider net.

Good luck!

I believe it is a very good idea to start at a Gender Therapist both in that the folks who deal with the hormones tend to want you to talk to them first (at least they did in my own experience) and that it is generally a good idea to talk it out with someone who is familiar with the issues we face.

I hope that helps.

also at least in my case my therapist had a endocrinologist that she had sent most of her patients to and had good experiences with.  I wasn't disappointed to her recommendation. my doctor is awesome :)

I'm starting to feel completely alien to this forum......Am I the only one who had never had a wife and stayed fairly true to my origins?

You've just come out to your wife? I don't know your situation Julie but mine has always been more obvious and I wouldn't need to come our to anyone. Were you married for a long time? and why go through a marriage and then decide you want to transition afterwards?

Being married and coming out to a wife seems to be the norm in here and living a whole section of your life as a male also seems to be the norm here........so maybe I'm in the wrong place? I'm not being critical of other peoples lives but it is hard to me to understand this even though it's quite frequent in here. I have been told people suppress things for a long time and try and intergrate as such. I could never or want to supress or put myself through the misery of getting married as a male. The whole thing make me feel ill....and I couldn't do it.

I fully agree.  The best place to start is with a gender therapist to help you sort out what is in your mind and your heart and your life.

I would also search transgender resources on the web to see if there are any clinics or organizations that can help you find the people you need to see.

Wishing you well,
