"A family physician reports the case of a transgender woman whose testosterone levels rose unexpectedly while on feminizing hormones, leading eventually to a diagnosis of a rare, virilizing form of testicular cancer. The complex medical and psychosocial factors related to the care of transgender patients that contributed to the delay in diagnosis are examined in the study published in LGBT Health, a peer-reviewed journal from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. The article is part of a new Special Issue on LGBT Populations and Cancer and is available free to download on the LGBT Health website. "

The same woman talked about in this article is the author of the web comic RAIN. A slice of life story about a trans girl going to school and navigating life and friendship with a staggering mix of sexualities and gender identities present.

She shared the article on her site and facebook page a few days ago.

Her Comic was a major factor in me seeing a therapist and ultimately coming out, starting hormones, going full time and being me.

Since I have a 10X higher risk of testicular cancer than normal, I'm very conscious of this.  Hopefully after I talk to my urologist on Monday, that risk won't be around in a few weeks.

From what she has said she is cancer free and just last week got a date for GRS. So from what she has said I think she is doing great.

Also talk about one more great reason to get rid of those cancer prone testosterone factories asap. :-)
