Facial Fat Infiltration - Careful around the eyes

For those considering facial fat infiltration, be aware that the fat can sometimes sneak into places you didn't intend.

For example, after facial fat grafting, I experienced some puffiness above and below my right eye, which just got worse over time (and as I gained a few pounds). Only the right eye was affected.

During a blepharoplasty to correct the problem, the surgeon found these two fatty masses actually inside the muscles around my right eye (the orbicularis oculi):

Apparently, during the fat grafting process, some of the fat infiltrated between the muscles and found a happy place to grow. :)

If you're considering facial fat infiltration, you might want to ask how your surgeon avoids this kind of complication.

Hi Eveline,

Have you or other members read my thread "Fat in the top lip - Don't".

It says it all really.

Mr Eccles was going to put some fat in my forehead last July (after his mostly failed forehead revision attempt in October 2014) and both Dr Capitan and Dr Simon said "Don't as it will compromise their surgery this coming April".

Glad I took their advice.
