I kinda have to be in girl clothes with a beard next weekend

My electologist who I have done 5 visits with 3 hours a piece is going to have a booth at a women's  beauty convention.   She mentioned today during a session that she likes the idea of having a model to work on during the show to attract new clients, this time for the model would be free of charge.  Awesome right?  I am 50/50 right now to being full time so normally I just wear guy clothes when I go to get zapped with a 3 day beard.  Being a women's beauty convention I don't want to go in guy mode, but I need to have a 3 day beard, which is dysphoric as hell.

My question is what would you do?  I mean I am gonna go.  I am going to dress a bit tomboy, kind of my style anyway.  I am going to have a 3 day beard she can work on.  Any advice, stories, encouragement?  Anything I'm missing that I should do or be aware of?

Well this is just me, but there's no way in hell I'd do it.
I have really intense social anxiety though, so you wouldn't catch me at a convention anyways :p

That said, if you wouldn't be too uncomfortable, go for it! Free is free!

I'll second that.  Just don't forget that not only will you be walking through the convention, you'll be on display for everyone watching the procedure as well.

I'd do it.  Free is free,  and what better way to help address your disphoria than having so many watch you in public?

I've been seeing more and more pictures of beautiful women with luscious beards.  It's kinda making me rethink the electrolysis thing.  But I can't grow a luscious beard, so I'll probably zap that ratty crap off my face.

I try to balance my dysphoria -- for example, if I were in your situation, I'd dress more femme than usual, and do my makeup.  It isn't perfect, but it helps.

Why not go for it? I've seen women who can grow a better beard then me. I'm weird though for I can wear a skirt or dress with a beard and still see Cheryl,right now I'm in a skirt with  mustache and goatee..

The electologist is also trans.  I will be there with some supportive friends.  I am thinking do up my eyes really nice with eyeliner, mascara and maybe shadow.  Leave out my bangs and go in a ponytail.  And dress cute tomboy.  Looking like a crossdresser or drag queen is dysphoric for me so over dressing female might make things worse.

This seems to be a good situational what-if topic though.  Don't be afraid to add.  They will have booze there, I might have to deaden the nerves to do this but I think I might be ok.

Oh, bathrooms!  Going into a women's restroom with a ferkin beard!  OMG that might suck.  Being there most of the day and needing to be well hydrated I will need to be using the bathroom.

Yeah, not my thing.  It helps knowing that people enjoy this though, that is less people to be judgey.  I only need to have 3 day stubble.

  this is me a couple weeks ago.  I am thinking this look just with stubble.

I actually know somebody with that! Her "beard" is nowhere as thick, but it is in a beard like pattern.  I am terrible at lying anyways.  I will likely just use it as a chance to be honest and when people ask I could just tell them I'm trans and explain why I'm sporting the whisker-face.  I talk a big talk though, I might just clam up and cry IRL.

Maybe you could think of it this way:  You could be a positive example for anyone else out there who is questioning themselves.

This is along the lines of how I am seeing it too.  Would I go to a monster truck race with a beard?  Um, no!  In this town a convention aimed at women, I don't think I'll have issue.  Still going to be a ball of nerves that day though.

I've been kinda bad about shaving lately, since I'm presenting male at work -- I try to shave every third day or so.  I've been starting at that picture of Justin Hubbell for a few days now... I'm gonna see how much of a mustache I can grow out before I shave it in a fit of rage.  Hmm.  I realize that I'm planning a trip to see my mom next weekend, so it'll be in pretty thick by then.  And I have every intention of dressing femme.  Heh.  Sorry mom, your kid is a headtrip.

I'd say go with 3 days of facial hair growth however you feel most comfortable doing it. I don't mean that as a cop-out kind of answer either.

I was full time when I started electrolysis on my face (still working on it now) and having facial hair in preparation sucks. It sucks to go about your day and go to work and everything else. For me I take public transit and yeah it is uncomfortable. Who cares what people think anyways..

You are removing the hair and then they can't say anything after it's gone, this is only temporary. Good luck either way
