How often were your first T shots?

I'm going on T soon and my psychologist told me that the endo he's referring me to is very safe and usually starts you off monthly then boosts your dosage to find the right amount for you. Is this how it usually goes? I've heard of starting fortnightly then maybe going monthly or weekly but never starting monthly. I'm just very impatient and I want things to happen ASAP as I want to pass and my voice to drop by the time I start university next year and avoid the awkward explaining to literally everyone I will meet. I will start T either April or May depending how many endo appointments I'll need.

If anyone here started T monthly, were the changes slower or faster than you expected? I know it's different for everyone and I don't even know if this makes a difference it's just I'm curious lol. I' turn 18 in April because I've heard your age effects it too.

That depends on the type of testosterone you are prescribed.

Different forms of T come in certain esters that break down in the blood at different rates. Perhaps they are starting you on something that releases slower, therefore lasts longer. I know people on nebido only take shots about every 3 months, and that is normal for them.

Since I'm on cypionate I inject weekly and on a lower dose for more even blood levels, since it releases much faster.

Mine started every other week. In the UK and Australia people are prescribed a different formula of testosterone than what's used in the US.

Im on cypionate also and can say it's given me the best results. I feel like monthly shots would give me mood swings like crazy i dunno. I love having my shot weekly and keeping my dose steady and low. (also gets you used to needles ahaha)

Thanks for the replies. I live in Australia so maybe my testosterone is something stronger which is monthly. That is reassuring, I didn't know about the differences in countries. :)

When I first started, my doctor started me out with a monthly injection for the first 3 months. It was not long acting T, it was the "normal" cypionate. The last week and a half of those months were absolutely miserable. After that first 3 months, I went to every other week. I didn't experience any negative effects with the every other week, but after about a year, I went to weekly (by choice) and have been much happier with that.

I had a friend go through the same doctor about a year after I did and he didn't start out with that "half dose" monthly schedule. I think that tends to be a method that is on its way out as I don't think there have been any studies that showed that starting at a half dose provides any advantage unless the individual wants to start out slower.

I will say that other than being a little sluggish at the end of those monthly cycles, I didn't see any negative impact. I have still seen a lot of changes and they happened fast for me.

But I agree with everything said above that it really does depend on the formulation. Some are intended to last much longer than others.

I started on gel, which was a daily application. I switched to shots 3 months in, and did weekly injections. I still do weekly injections, though I have the option to do it biweekly at twice the usual dose.

I've been in y for 1.3 years now. I started cypionate and after about 6 months switched to enanthate because my insurance covered that vial instead. I'm glad because the cyp made me way more aggressive than then enan. I've been taking my diesel every two weeks since I started. I do have the options of weekly injections but since my levels are fine and my monthly cycles stopped after one month on t I have kept up with the same dosage.
Also, I noticed shrinking of my cervix to about half of what it used to be so for now I'm just gonna see a special obgyn that sees trans people to make sure everything is fine in that area.
