On Tuesday, a controversial topic will take center stage in Sarasota County. School district leaders will consider allowing transgender students to use the bathroom they identify with at school. It's a story that has people fired up on both sides and 10News WTSP learned soon you could see more local school districts changing their policies.

Pine View School in Osprey recently changed their bathroom policy and sited The Civil Rights Act.

The U.S. Department of Education wrote in a memo two years ago that schools "must treat transgender students consistent with their gender identity in all aspects of the planning, implementation, enrollment, operation, and evaluation of single-sex classes."

Interesting how different school districts are reacting to the USDOE memo regarding equal treatments of transgender students. School districts in FL moving ahead with usage based on gender identiry and South Dakota trying to pass laws against equal access. Shame on you S Dakota.
