Recommended Gender Therapist in SF Bay Area?

Hi!

Is there a gender therapist that someone can recommend in the San Francisco Bay Area?

I know there's a few listed all throughout California here:

A stupid question would be, is there another name for a gender therapist? Would it be a psychiatrist?

For example, I'm looking through the search fields for the insurance I have here, and I don't see a gender therapist listing. I don't even see a good second option. Would I have to go through my general physician to get a recommendation? But, if someone on this board has a good recommendation, would I be able to just pass that name along to my general physician and I can get an appointment with them? Thanks.

So the Links Admin is a day late and a dime short on this one!   

Counselor, psychiatrist, LCSW (licensed clinical social worker), there are a few terms to search for. Also, a therapist may treat transgender clients without specifying it. You should make a few calls, sometimes they can tell you of a peer who can help. Good luck!
