Not sure if anyone has read this yet but I just read an article on Daily Emerald that two frats are letting in anyone who identifies as male. So if you are looking to join a frat you should check out DTD and DU

i wouldn't. fraternities normalize rape culture, to the point in seeing no issue with sexually assaulting women. as a trans man, you should have more respect for yourself....and women.

That's a pretty big generalization.  Following that line of thinking you could also say that TV normalizes rape culture so we shouldn't watch it.  Yes, some frats are mess heaps, but not all frats are bro caves.  You are not disrespecting yourself or women to join a fraternity, you are disrespecting women if you disrespect women.  There are a ton of different kind of fraternities including sports frats, arts frats, frats related to your major, etc, and they can be very helpful in providing you support through college and beyond.  Not every frat is what you see on a TV sitcom or in a crude comedy movie.  Let's be fair to all the awesome frats and sororities out there and not place a scarlet letter on an entire group of people because there are bad apples in the world.

I also thought about the potential of harassment, but honestly, if no one ever dares to make a change, everything stays exactly the way it was.

It´s a good thing that transmen are thinking about this and fraternities becoming more open. Maybe you could figure out whether those fraternities already have non binary or transguys in them.

Agree with FTMitch though. You should thread carefully to some degree if you are trans, but that doesn´t mean that all frats have a narrow mindset.

These two frats seem very open they are even eliminating degrading speech from their frat also. So if it is sexist, homophobic or anything else it will not be tolerated and they don't haze either

Was that the article about the fraternities at UO? I thought that only applied to the ones at that specific school but I guess I don't really know how fraternities work.

I don't really know to be honest. I figured it applied to all of them since they are a frat. I don't know how it work either but I would hope that a frat in one state would have the same standards as the same frat in another state
