USA to Thailand

Has anyone from the US had their surgery in Thailand. I'm wondering how uncomfortable the flight home was? I'm still trying to narrow down my surgeon choices, and Thailand is still on my list. However the flight part seems scary and difficult after a major surgery. I would love to know your experiences with this. Did you choose first class for the flight home?

Many say a better flight home might be of advantage.

Another thing to ask for might be a letter by the doctor.

There are letters stating someone had a surgery, asking for wheelchair transport and if possible a comfortable place.
Some airlines might give a seat in the back aisle with foot space ...
and its possible with a wheelchair lengthy waiting lines are circumvented ...
you might ask the docs.

I booked business class about 5000 usd
I used Chett
I had surgery on Feb 20th
I feel I may have waisted the money because I am already comfy sitting but everyone is different.
And his fee with graft 11000 usd
So cheaper than USA docs
He recommends no estrogen two weeks before surgery and not to start again until you get home
However since I can lay down I will start up mine sooner because I have compression hose
I'm not worried about clots

I went. What I did was save one of the decent pain killers that the doctor gives you. You take that when you get on the plane and you sleep a good portion of it. Also you can ask a flight attendant for special consideration of extra seats but that is only if she has extra seats available. Meaning more than one seat in a row for you to lie down.

THe flight is long. There is no chance in hell I would go to Thailand except for the cost factor. When I went one of the big doctors there was about the same price as the doctors in the USA. NO chance in hell I would go to that doctor. Just saying it has to be a $$ advantage.

While I can't say I've been yet, I'm a big fan of Dr Suporn and I'd choose him even if he charged double or triple what he does now. I expect there's other Thai surgeons I'd choose over non-Thai ones as well.

And hey if you want to pay more money for one doctor over the other that's totally ok. I choose to use the big money for FFS..........
