Trans Women In Selective Service

Hey all I got a tough question this morning and I dunno if anyone knows how to answer here;

I am going to be going back to school. And in order to do so (If I were indeed a male- will explain that statement in a moment). And I will OBVIOUSLY need financial aid. Now in order to receive financial aid, males must apply for the Selective Service (the draft).

What about Transgender women? Now to explain my statement "If I were indeed a male"

Obviously I am a trans woman. I am on the hormones, and have the Legal Name An Gender Change happening on April 5, 2016. That is when I pick up my paperwork. Which obviously will state I am A Female named Jessilynn Jane Baker.

I havn't had the surgery yet. That will be happening next year.

Does anyone know if transgendered women (WHEN LEGALLY CHANGED THEIR GENDER) have to apply for the SS Draft?
OR! Are we like biological women who do not apply for it?

I don't know the law where you are, but it seems to me that after you get your legal gender change documents, you are legally female.  That's the point of getting the piece of paper.  If you can hold off until you have that document in your hands, you should be okay.

I'm not positive but it's probably going to depend on what your birth certificate says.  So if it is changed you are probably exempt.

Under the current rules though you would be disqualified from service due to transsexuality.  That is likely to change soon.

Also, there is a pretty strong chance that the law will soon require women to register for the draft.

Have you already applied for financial aid? Are you doing so as a male or a female? 

Since there's no chance you will find yourself being conscripted, after you have your paperwork, just go register. The benefit will be that you'll be complying with the law and ensure eligibility for financial aid, even though it will be emotionally uncomfortable for a few minutes. If I were in your position I'd have a family member or friend go with me to keep the process entertaining. Having a "witness" will also reduce the chance of abuse, not that any should be expected.

I'm probably not the only person who'd be interested in your experience. Please, let us know what happens.

I did but apparently there is no record of it.
I am just going to go to school and leave the country after I graduate. So that's why I am asking more or less
