My feet are to big?

I wear a male 11 1/2 to 12 size (US) shoe, but my problem is that my foot is very narrow - I can just about do an AA width and it is difficult to find anything that slim without paying a lot of money.  I then got the idea that maybe I could wear a woman's sneaker (I want a nice but cheap pair of white sneakers).  I saw some nice $12 Danskins at Walmart, but I must have got the conversion wrong as I thought a 10 1/2 would fit me, but I guess I need to convert the other direction.  I tried an 11 on that fit nice in the width, but a little short - trouble is the shoe sizes did not go above 11.

Am I right that a woman's size that would fit me length wise would be more narrow than the equivalent man's size?  Is it going to be really difficult to find inexpensive woman's shoes at that large of a size?

Women's feet/shoes are more narrow for sure.

Hi Robertina,

I know this is an older posting, but hopefully you'll still see my response.

Yes, you converted in the wrong direction. If you wear a man's size 11.5 or 12, you want to look at maybe a women's 13, although you might find a women's 12 that will fit, as size seems to vary quite a bit depending on brand and style of shoe. But you'll probably have the most luck looking at women's 12.5 or 13's.

They are harder to find in most stores, but there are lots of sources for women's shoes in that size range on-line, you'll have to do some Googling, but you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them.

I am really tall (6'5") and wear a man's size 14/15/16 depending on brand and style, so I REALLY have a tough time finding decent, affordable women's shoes. I have had luck with several sites, one of my favorites is http://www.designershoes.com/, you can search their site by size and width, check them out to get started.

I wear a men's 12/women's 13... Shoes are not the easiest thing to find other than online

That Designershoes.com site looks pretty good... I signed up for their e-mail

Another site is Masseys.com... They don't have quite as many shoes but they do have a good selection and offer easy credit terms  :icon_chick:

I never thought I would ever say that I'm relieved my feet are a men's 11/women's 12. I say I'm relieved, because anything larger would make buying shoes potentially much more difficult than it already is. I really need to stop by Payless this week. Anyone know of other places to buy such large shoes in Canada?

JenniL

Shoes.com has a decent selection of shoes for woman with a larger foot size. That where I get my sneaker from. They seem to have a bigger selection for my size 12 in womens'. They run some good discounts from what it seems like weekly on certain brands. I never knew about designer shoes.com Definitely will have to look at/buy some new shoes next pay day :D

I wear an 11 or 12 depending on who the shoe is cut.  I have a normal foot.  But I sympathize with you on having a narrow foot.  My Mom had an Size 8 A foot, but need something with a AAA heel.  She played hell trying to find shoes.

Thanks Julogden for the designershoes link. They do ship internationally (I'm in the UK), and every extra resource for my tiny little UK-size-12 (US-size-14) is more than welcome ;-)

Check out Long Tall Sally fpr shoes.  I think they are a bit expensive but the quality is good and sizes run to US women's 15 in most of the LTS branded shoes.

I agree that Long Tall Sally is a good choice. I have two pairs of boots from there, UK size 13. Fit perfectly.

I wear a men's 10 wide which puts me into women's 11.5 or 12. Nearly impossible to find in the volume discount stores. I have reasonable luck in a dedicated shoe store.
I hate manufactures that think anyone with large feet doesn't deserve cute shoes, and that anyone with size >14 dress doesn't deserve cute clothes!
