How much of the penis is removed in SRS?

Hey everybody, just wanted to ask here to see if anybody know how much of the penis is removed in SRS? I've seen a video (I'll link it below) in which the lower section of the head is removed, is that accurate? Does it vary? I'm asking because I have some semi-painful scar tissue along the bottom of the head of that thing and was wondering if that could just be cut out completely, and if that's the case, would the pain carry over in nerve preservation? Thanks a bunch, I looked all over for something like this but I guess it's kinda a specific question.

Welcome to Susan's Place. The surgery varies depending on the doctor doing it. but one thing that is pretty common is the glans and the connection to the nervous system is retained and used to construct the clitoris. The skin can be used for the vagina or for the external features and the remainder of the penis may or may not be used depending on the surgeon. My surgery is on the primitive side and the entire glans was used resulting in a larger than normal clitoris but some doctors will reduce the size to something more normal.

These are questions you should as before deciding on a doctor so you will receive the type of surgery you desire. In my case, the option didn't exist because we had one primary doctor. You have many to chose from.

This is something that is quite variable and dependent on just how much tissue you have.  Some of us don't have sufficient tissue available and may require a skin graft from the hip or thigh to complete the reconstruction.  Also depends of the technique that your surgeon employs.  The most common techniques are the "penile skin inversion" and the "scrotal skin inversion" Your surgeon will use as much of your genital tissues as possible with the exception of the testicles and you won't need them anymore.  The most important thing that your surgeon must preserve and re-position are your nerve bundles.  Mine were re-positioned accurately and they are very sensate.

During my grs the complete skin was preserved and used to form the clitoris, inner labia and the vaginal canal. He only removed most of he swelling parts inside the penis. Also the complete urethra was used for the vaginal canal.

But it depends on the technique which is used. Mine was the combined mehod from Dr. Schaff. But it is likely that the surgeon and work around your problem. Just speak with him/her.
