If this is in the wrong section, I do apologize in advance - I'm new here.

To make a long story short, me and my partner will most likely be moving to France relatively soon. I've been doing some research on the country, particularly to trans policies. It all looks nice and dandy, but something that I can't seem to find a coherent answer to is whether the forced sterilization during transition is the same as it is with Spiro - that is, will the forced sterilization extend to me not being able to finish at all? Or is it the same as Spiro where you can still finish, but you just can't reproduce?

I suppose a TL;DR would be:

does France's forced sterilization thing cause me to be unable to finish at all?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I am unsure what you mean by sterilization because the function of the blocker is to reduce the testosterone levels. If you mean blocker, they should all function the same and the ability to function sexually is dependent on the person. Some people can maintain an erection while on the blockers and some people can't. If your partner is able to function on Spiro, the odds are pretty good that other drugs will act the same.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Not sure about France in detail, but its quite appalling what goes on in many parts of Europe. I don't think spiro counts, it seems to be surgical.

Here's an overview with a "nice" map

Sterilization threat darkens Europe's transgender quest for identity
Yet it is one of 19 European countries, including France, Belgium and Italy, that require transgender people to undergo genital removal surgery and sterilization before they can legally change gender, according to human rights organization Transgender Europe (TGEU).

Trans people to receive compensation for forced sterilisation in Sweden
Yesterday, the Swedish Government announced an initiative to pay economic compensation to trans victims of forced sterilisation in Sweden. Transgender Europe (TGEU) welcomes this initiative which acknowledges the past wrongdoings which violated the human rights, especially physical integrity, of trans people in the country.
