What happened when a room full of Texas parents took on transgender bathrooms

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/05/11/transgender-students-rights-the-debate-becomes-loud-and-heated-in-texas/

The Washington Post/By Tim Madigan May 11 at 11:29 AM

"FORT WORTH — On Tuesday, the first scorching day of a
Texas spring, hundreds stood in line in the late afternoon sun, waiting to enter the meeting hall of the Fort Worth school board. The impassioned throng was the largest in more than three decades of school board meetings here, officials said."

One important fact that was omitted from that article is that the policy in question was enacted 5 years ago.

This outburst is an expression of mob mentality stoked by ignorance of the LGBT community + misinformation that is being circulated by the anti-LGBT factions (the "men in ladies restrooms" tropes) along with a simple fear of the unknown. They reject the scientific evidence that is available and the given track record of communities and schools that already have these policies and laws in place. They choose to cling to their beliefs in spite of evidence to the contrary.

Perhaps in a one-on-one situation some of these people could be reasoned with, but in a mob you can't tell them a thing.

I hope that the school officials don't give in to the pressure.
