"Pop diva Demi Lovato staged a protest on the stage of Sunday's Billboard Music Awards.

The singer star performed her hit "Cool for the Summer" while donning a black shirt sporting the proposed symbol of a transgender person for public bathrooms.

Though she didn't refer directly to North Carolina's controversial HB2 law, the message was clear."
