"Carly Hoilmans a society, we have taken many important steps toward recognizing and protecting the legal rights for the LGBTQ2 community — from enshrining equality rights in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to the passage of the Civil Marriage Act," Trudeau said in a speech, adding, "There remains much to be done, though. Far too many people still face harassment, discrimination, and violence for being who they are.""

If we had that law in the USA they would have to buy an island out in the middle of the ocean to imprison the entire Republican Party!

Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being....  - Dan Barker

This is going too far. Censorship will lead to more stringent laws elsewhere affecting how we work, play and get along with each other. The hate speakers, name callers and those whom act on these verbal tirades in a bad manner just shows us what kind of people they are. Those who react in violence due to these tirades will do so anyway. All they want is a trigger.

Too bad they won't do anything even remotely close to that in America. But we also place such an over inflated emphasis on freedom of religion that we allow the rights of West Borrow Baptist church to protest at funerals but we don't do a damn thing to protect those mourning at the funeral from having to deal with that crap. And there is also the issue that many Americans are denial that words do have power.

  This is going too far.

This isn't "going" anywhere.

The article is misleading.

The penalty for hate crimes isn't changing. What is changing is that spreading hate about transgender people is now on the level of spreading hate about racial, ethnic, and religious groups.

The Blaze is a right-wing publication with a strong anti-trans slant, so they're making it sound like a special hate crime law has been passed for transgender people.
