I've just got my first prescription for T. My doctor wants to start me on 1000mg first week, then again at 6 weeks, and again at 12 weeks. This seems ridiculous! Is that okay? Or should I speak to someone? I'm anxious and uncomfortable with taking that much T.

If your doctor is telling you to do something that makes you uncomfortable, you should discuss that with them.

What kind of testosterone is it? From the intervals you mentioned, it sounds like it is a longer term form of T like Sustanon or Nebido. I am not terribly familiar with them, but it would make sense to me that the dosage is higher to last the longer period in between.
T: 12/5/2014 | Top: 4/21/2015 | Hysto: 2/6/2016 | Meta: 3/21/2017

I don't come here anymore, so if you need to get in touch send an email: maxdoeswork AT protonmail.com

I'm gonna guess that IS Nebido.

It's actually normal for some doctors to tell patients to have the second shot much earlier than normal since it takes a long time for Nebido to kick in since it's a long term form of T. That way your T levels get to a proper level faster.

I'm on Nebido myself and I have my shot day every 12 weeks. Although I didn't have to take the second shot that much earlier mostly because I had already been on T for over a year when I switched to it.

That does sound like Nebido, yes.

As has already been said, if the dosage makes you uncomfortable or if you are that unsure, I would suggest voicing these concerns to your doctor! They need to know if you are unsure etc!

However, I'm on Nebido as well, same dosage, and I got my second shot six weeks after my first, and my third will be in August, 12 weeks/3 months after my second! So I'd say there's no reason to worry, really!

My doctor told me that's how they usually do it with Nebido: Keeping the first interval fairly short (6 weeks) in order to I guess you could say "kickstart" your second puberty & raise your T-Levels fast (because nebido is a long-term, slow-release kind of T), and after the second shot, you get your shots every 3 months/12 weeks which is the usual for Nebido.

They usually do a bloodtest at this point to check your T levels, and some people might need longer intervals like 14 weeks to have their T levels be in a normal male range, some need shorter like 10, but about 12 weeks works for most!

I also know a trans guy on Nebido & same dosage who's doctor had him take his second shot after 6 weeks, his third after 8 and his fourth after 12, and he's fine!

So... maybe speak to your doctor if you are really worried/anxious because of it, but if you're wondering if it's normal: yes it is!
