Hello.. Pleasure to meet you all.. I have a good deal of recession of my hair and am now beginning my transition, having just turned 32... Hormones will come shortly.. that being said.. I have a bit of money set aside to resolve these issues.. Though not an infinite amount..
So I should like to be able to do it for what is economical, but sensible.. Nothing of poor quality obviously.. Having said that I have the capacity to travel freely.. for what amounts to for free.. so as a result of this.. What country it might occur in is not an obstacle..
As I shall likely start hormones somewhere between July to September, as I am in process at the moment.. and fully out to everyone who I might tell, regarding my intentions..
I would very much appreciate advice for where I might travel to get my hair done. Europe is preferable, as it is where I am.. but quality and price being balanced, I should like recommendations.. But where ever I might go, if they might fix my hair.. do tell.. Who it was, when it was, happy or not, the general cost and so on.. or a directory if there is such a thing.. As it will be a large procedure, though still possible.. I think it best I get it done as soon as I might.. As it shall take quite a lot of time to grow out... as you all do know.. That and it causes me quite a bit of misery.. Though I am open to suggestion. I wish to relieve as much dysphoria as I can as quickly as possible..

The same might be said for other procedures.. The budget is somewhat limited (I might say how much if it is appropriate to do so).. but the mobility is as large as needs be.. Thank you.. Clara

Welcome to  Susan's Place. All new users receive this message.

Hi Claire, I can share some pricing for procedures but I am in the USA. What procedures are you interested in receiving? I had wanted to do hair first but it was recommended by several people to do FFS first because I am having forehead lowering and it would waste transplanted hair.

Hi Clara,

I'm in the middle of doing hairtransplantation myself right now. I'ts being carried out in two steps. Firstly the crown at the back and then the front. First step was done in Dec 15 and second step is scheduled in Dec 16.
Number of grafts is respectively 2.400 and 1.900. Procedure is FUT. So far it looks very promising at the crown and overall I'm very satisfied with the service at the clinic thats carrying out the transplantation.
In advance I did a thourough research and had personal consultation with 3 clinics. I decided to have my hairtransplantation done with Dr Pathomvanich in Bangkok.

Clara, I had 4000 grafts to my crown back in March in Istanbul. I can't speak yet for how well it has gone, but my recovery was fine, and 10 weeks after the procedure, you'd never know I had it done. The pricing for Istanbul was very competitive, and a fraction of what I was quoted by UK clinics.

Buenos Aires is a good place too for hair transplants. Two and a half weeks after my ffs, I had 1400 grafts put in to bring it forward and round it out for under $2k. It all grew in well.

And your new hairline has made such a huge difference to your face. It looks amazing :)

Like Jannicke I went to Dr Damkerng Pathomvanich in Bangkok Thailand.

Two FUT procedures so far. 3300 grafts in Jan 2015 then a further 2200 grafts in Jan 2016. May go back in 2018 for a final touch up if necessary to increase density.

Happy with the treatment received and the results to date. Will still be another 5-6 months though until the last set have matured. Cost is on a sliding scale with the price reducing per graft the more you have. For my last procedure it was 100 baht per graft for 1501-2500 grafts.

If I hadn't gone to Dr Pathomvanich I would have probably chosen a surgeon in North America.

After my facial surgery in February 2004, I had three sessions with Dr Paul Cotterill in Toronto, Canada. I flew out specially from here in the UK.

If you had seen my scalp prior to surgery, you would never have thought that I could achieve a full head of hair with great density. Up to April this year, overall the finest procedures in my whole transition.

The sessions were in December 2004, June 2005 & July 2006.

He is a past president of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)

Fortunately, I have enough donor hair for another session which I will be having done soon because of the damage done to my hair grafts in London by the surgeon at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in October 2014 by him using the existing coronal incision (from 2004) just behind my hairline and down the sides of my scalp.

G'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ....  >:(

Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't realistic with what could be done with just my ffs. I remember being so upset because of those unrealistic expectations that only 5 days before I was about to leave Buenos Aires, I decided I wasn't leaving without transplants. I found at least three other surgeons, all of whom would have charged less than 3k for what I was asking. When I told Amanda, she said she had just the person. She introduced me to Dr. Bruno Szyferman. He got his team to come in on a Friday night because he knew I was leaving so soon :) He's such a sweetheart. Can't believe it was so cheap. I'm super happy. From what all the lovely ladies here have been saying, Thailand sounds amazing too (as does Paula's surgeon in Toronto).

I second Dr Bruno Szyferman.  I stayed an extra week so I could get hair transplants while I was in Buenos Aires, though I went with FUE method.

Good luck! I had my hairline corners done in early 2014 . You can see my results at 6months here: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,206068.0.html .

Now over 2 years later I'll probably be going in for FFS

Is there a collection of links for hair transplants?  If so would be greatly appreciated.
  •

Megan.

Do you mean for info on it, or providers?
  •

shoko

I'd be interested in a combined list of good hair transplant providers..
  •

Megan.

The whatclinic website has extensive details of clinics, what they offer, prices, and reviews. I found it very helpful in deciding where I went. There is also the realself website for more reviews and experiences.

Megan.

I choose the country (Turkey) on price, and then chose one of the larger clinics on assumption of better support pre/post procedure, and more experience. TBH the technicians who did mine could have done it in their sleep, it's all they do day-in day-out.

How are they doing your crown transplants? Are they shaving the recipient area?
You're Norwegian, I guess? I live in Akershus.

Hello everyone!

I am considering Dr. Robert Bernstein of the http://www.bernsteinmedical.com/ in NYC for hair transplants.

Dr. Bernstein offers robotic FUE transplants and am wondering if anyone has worked with him before or know of anyone who has.

Thank you in advance

Warmly

Nina

I had my hair transplants done by DHi in Greece back in 2006.
They didn't put in anywhere near as many follicles as I had paid for, but all the hair took.
They made another mistake as well.
I still need more to be honest.
I think at the time they were really only used to male clients, not female.
I'm thinking of using Facial Team this time around, or maybe just going to DHi again, but this time their UK clinic.

Does anyone knows of a good clinic or doctor in southern California?
