Syracuse Time Warner Cable News reported on June 8, 2016

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Cameras were not allowed in court for the arraignment of Dwight DeLee.

If his name sounds familiar it's because in 2009 he was convicted by a jury of criminal possession of a weapon and first degree manslaughter as a hate crime.

The victim was Lateisha Green, a transgendered woman who was shot and killed.

Police previously claimed that several people attending a party near the scene had taunted Green and her brother as they sat in a car outside the house where the party was underway.

DeLee became a free man based on a technicality. The jury convicted him of manslaughter as a hate crime, but not manslaughter in the first degree.

So, the conviction was overturned because of an inconsistent verdict...
