My Transition Roadmap

I know there's no "right way" to transition but I wanted to run my timeline/roadmap by those that are farther along in their transition than I and see what people think.

I'll be two years on HRT in August, two years electro in July.

My next step is VFS with Dr. Haben later this year then socially transitioning and starting the RLT and getting my legal documents/name change. Per Haben I can't have any medical procedures that require intubation for six months post-VFS unless I see him again in which case he may clear me for three months. Given I live in Alaska and he's in NY that's probably not going to happen so...

FFS/BA with Cardenas in Buenos Aries as soon as I can. Between the VFS and FFS I'll get on Brassard's waiting list. I imagine by the time he's free to book me I'll have finished the one year RLT and have my letters. After that I go in for the big one, GCS. After that, done complete. My hope is to have finished my transition by early 2018.

That sounds like a good plan. I also chose a longer transition timeline compared to a lot of people in this forum, but that was the best approach for me.

Hello all.

     I am Asuna, I've been transitioning for 3 years/ 5 1/2 months on hrt. I came out as soon as I decided to transition. I have very little family although; they are 100% supportive. All my friends are 100% supportive as well.
I started by throwing all my boy clothing away and wearing only feminine clothes, I learned how to do makeups. I learned how to style my own hair. I never really had help learning through all this I just kinda winged it.

I made a transition slide show a few weeks ago, I have links to it I will post at the bottom.
I am 27 and I started transitioning when I was 24. I wish I would have started earlier, but its okay age and time has been good to me ^.^

Welcome to the site.

Are you seeing a therapist yet. They are very helpful for working your way through difficult times. Gender therapists are even better.

I think all of us wish we had started sooner...

I am just taking my transition 1 day at a time. That is all I can do, if it is quick, or slow, it is all I can expect.

You will find what works best for you.

It may come as trial-and-error no matter how much planning you do.  Certainly make all the plans necessary.  Many surgeons have waiting lists from several months to years.  Work with whom you want to be on your team.

This transition is a once-in-your-lifetime experience - unless you need to de-transition. Go with the flow.

As far as getting all the steps done in two years, go with it if that is what you can do.  Ha!  Look at my timeline - 11 years.  I endured periods of time without counselling and without ERT.  But it was what worked for me during the era when I lived it and what was available.

As I regularly say, my only true regret is not having done it better.
