"A transgender woman who was jailed for eight days after hotel staff called the police to report "two men" engaging in prostitution, has settled her lawsuit against the hotel.

Last July, Meagan Taylor, 22, and her friend, both black transgender women, spent the night at the Drury Inn in West Des Moines, Iowa. The pair had been on their way to Kansas City to attend a funeral. But Taylor wound up getting arrested and spending eight days in a county jail after being found in possession of her hormone drugs without a copy of her prescription, a charge that was later dropped."

I hope that she took them to the cleaners and that the employee that profiled them is now looking for a new job.

Money loss is a very effective tool to effect change and to educate people.

Yes good for her. The stupidity of expecting that people carry prescriptions across state lines on a road trip is almost laughable, if this poor woman would had not spent 8 days in jail.

I only hope she's got a suit against the city/county for the jail time, now that the false report part is settled.

You would think the pharmacy label on the bottle or package would be sufficient.

Honestly, I don't think any money award would be enough to compensate for the humiliation of being arrested for prostitution then 8 days of incarceration. My heart goes out to these ladies.

Totally should have been and i would have logged on to my doctors web site and shown them the prescription too. Horrible she was treated that way and i hope she got a lot of money.

The label should be sufficient.  Even controlled substances such as hydrocodone or ambien should be ok as long as they are in the original bottle with the label and match your identification.  Where people get in trouble is putting them in another container without a label so they don't have to carry all of their medications on a trip.

Yeah, I am guilty of that. Especially when I am out for the day or a couple of days. I just put what I need in an old RX vial.
