We all know it hits, and sometimes it takes a long time to get back up after. My question to everyone is how do you deal with it? Personally, I grab a guitar and try to let me emotions flow through that. I recently moved and my guitar is no where around so I'm struggling when the dysphoria hits, but I'll find a way until I get back. But yeah, what do you do to deal with it?

Wearing and acting the part of one's preferred gender takes the edge off for a lot of people but I haven't had any luck with that. The only thing I really want is to have a female body. Wearing women's clothing is nice for a brief time but soon enough I'll see a mirror and remember no amount of clothing makes me look feminine. Jewelry and makeup don't help much for similar reasons in addition to not having the money for extravagances. These are just accessories. They aren't ultimately important to me. Just the body is and that is difficult to overlook.

Distraction is the only method that works for me, and even then not often enough. Outside distractions tend to work a lot better than when I try to purposely distract myself. Earlier this year I came down with a bad infection that left me distracted for weeks. Some unknown person last month vandalized my car which distracted me for a few days. Things I purposefully try have very mixed results be they movies, music, or work. Most times I just have to grin and bear it and wait for it to pass on its own.
