As my research continues, I was browsing Dr Spiegel's webpage and looking at the FFS section. I found this before/after:

http://www.drspiegel.com/wp-content/gallery/ffs/Spiegel-FFS-BA-61.jpg

Is anyone else as amazed as I am? I'm looking but I can't see any similarities between the two pictures.

I wonder if anyone happens to know this girl? She's stunning. Even the ear lobes look different to me. It's a miraculous result. I find it bizarre that I can't spot any resemblance between the before and after photos. The eyes even seem different to me.

Can someone explain what procedures she probably had?  It almost looks too good to be true. Dr Spiegel is extremely talented, I'm leaning towards him or Dr Deschamps-Braly for FFS.

FFS: Dr Noorman van der Dussen, August 2018 (Belgium)
SRS: Dr Suporn, January 2019 (Thailand)
VFS: Dr Thomas, May 2019 (USA)

This video has Dr. Spiegel describing the different procedures he performed on this patient (see at about the 8-minute mark):

Personally, my opinion... Its a good result, but not really that impressive.
She had forehead reconstruction, and orbital reduction and eyebrow lift, rhinoplasty, upperlip lift, chin and jaw contouring, and possibly fat transfer to cheeks, and trachea shave. I remember seeing quite few hers before and after photos, but that was a while ago.

Change in eyes, is typical after orbital reduction, and eyebrow lift. It opens up the eyes...

For some reason I knew exactly who you were talking about before I even clicked the link. She's a member of this site. I'm sure you can find her through the forums somewhere.

I agree - good but not as impressive when you consider the before/afters in this also include facial hair removal, hormones, hair longer/feminine style, and makeup. I do remember watching one of her videos that she posted on youtube - you're right on those procedures but she actually had cheek implants instead of fat transfers. She's beautiful :) I think Dr. Spiegel is a good - and at least he does Type 3 forehead contouring proper.

I requested my surgical notes from the hospital and saw his resident listed on every aspect of the surgery and in the end stated 'Dr. S was present during the whole procedure", I guess ones outcome is dependent on the skill of his resident in training at the time you go under the knife.  I am planning revision surgery this winter.

I understand that some trans patients come out after FFS....but I feel like a good number of us get it during.

Therefore, posting a pre-op pic as a 'boy pic' seems kinda misleading. Hormones do a lot themselves and as others have said, so does a haircut and makeup.

Also a lot of post pics are "glam" shots.

I am a member of the pretty much defunct Yahoo FFS group, however in it's heyday it was the place to go for FFS info and advice.  One of the requirements when asking for opinions was no makeup, and a variety of pics from headon, to 1/2 profile to full profile.  Same thing when you posted your results.  If you wanted to post a "glam" shot it was okay, but the other pics were more important.

Headon "glam" pics don't really show the full extent of how well FFS succeeded.  I wish more people understood that.

Different surgeons have different ideas on ffs. Some make drastic changes and you cannot see the character that was there before. Some surgeons perform changes that are less drastic and you can still see the person before.

It's up to you cos once they start the extra change is not difficult. The brow bossing can be quite severe or not so. The big change is the nose and here they can do implants easily.

Every doctor gives a rejunivating lift if you are over 30. Most of us get eyebrow lifts and a lowering of the hairline. Plus increased lips.

I have an option of having my nose made smaller and more perky with a silicone implant ....I have opted for the time being to only have the nostrils tightened. I'm intrigued with a silicon nose bridge implant with a turnup nose tip.

I think my surgeon did a fab job...considering I'm 68 and now easily pass in my forties.. but I am really into health and exercise.

When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

Yeah exactly.

is that group not active anymore? I tried to get in the other day but haven't heard back

Yeah, I would say the Yahoo Group is officially dead.  The last non-administrative post was a couple months ago.  It, along with some other Yahoo groups I was a member of, took big hits when Yahoo redesigned the Group function to make it more "mobile" friendly.

Ugh k. that's unfortunate. ->-bleeped-<- has no support for this and here at Susan's it's pretty minimal, I feel like.

I'm going to be chatting to my PAI surgeon next week about FFS after my orchiectomy. Just so I know, what's the sort-of ballpark cost for a reasonable amount of FFS including rhinoplasty?

I'm hoping to start FFS in October. Yay :)

Depends on which procedures, and how many of them... along with all hospital fees, etc.

Just after ballpark idea mmmm: forehead, cheeks, nose and jaw I guess in one operation. I literally have no idea of $$$ whatsoever.

Probably going to have mine done at PAI as the clinic super impresses me but it'd be useful to have some sort of idea around costings to compare.

How does it compare to the UK?
  •

I honestly don't really know as I've never investigated a single FFS place in the UK :D I'm pretty new to the whole plastic surgery side of transition, as you may tell ;) However, PAI is super new in one of Bangkok's swankiest districts. The building rises over several floors and is like a 7* hotel in cleanliness with heaps of attentive nursing staff. I noticed a lot of western girls there for varieties of plastic surgery.

Price wise PAI is on the lower end of scale for FFS costs, comparable with other Thai surgeons who do FFS (Chettawut and Suporn excluded), dr. Cardenas in Mexico and dr. Rossi in Argentina. For procedures like forehead-nose-jaw-chin you are looking somewhere at around $12,000-$13,000. Malar cheek implants should be something like additional $2,000. Fat grafting to cheeks (if you maybe meant that) is usually less. Thats just estimation.

There is one surgeon offering FFS in UK, Dr. Musgrove... Oh! And dr. Altman. I should withhold myself from any comment on that.

Crikey! I'd best get saving ;)

I'm assuming it's not available on the NHS?!
