Worried about my face

I'm starting to get worried that my face won't fill out the way I want it to when my HRT kicks in. I am probably being unrealistic in my dreams, but I fully imagine myself as an extremely beautiful girl who constantly gets the boys  to turn their heads. I have really only dabbled with makeup and none of those times turned out alright. I look at all these beautiful girls who are pre- transition and am a little jealous that I am not able to do my face the way the other girls do their faces. I just hope that HRT will make me feel a little better about my looks as I have never looked at myself in the mirror and thought "damn son, you look good today". Maybe once I start on my journey I will be able to say" girl, you are looking mighty fine".

There's no reason why you can't start saying that to yourself now. It does wonders for confidence and self acceptance. I've been saying that for several years now, even on days when post electrolysis treatment my face would be hairy and covered in red bumps.

You won't know until you know, and it will take up to 18 months anyway, so there is nothing positive to be gained from worrying about it. Just relax, be realistic and go with the flow.

Luckily I have a friend that will help me with that. I'm actually thinking about going to my first therapy session all done up. Even if I don't look amazing. At least it will be a start.

I highly recommend going to a MAC counter or Sephora to get your makeup done by one of their well reviewed (Yelp is your friend) makeup artists. For a half/hour to hour appointment you essentially agree to spend money in the store on their products, it was only $50 for me the last time I went, but I ended up spending a bit over $100 anyway.

The "beautiful" girl that turns guys heads, is most women that play to their strongest and best features. Find your own and emphasize them. HRT will probably increase the collagen in your cheeks and give you a more youthful appearance, but figuring out the right makeup doesn't mean you need to wait for HRT "magic" to get you all the way.

Gossmakeupartist on YouTube has been a huge help with my understanding makeup tips from basic to advanced as well. And there are tons of channels reviewing products out there, just find someone you trust who does their makeup tips to your liking.

I also recommend this approach.  Experimenting on your own with drugstore products will be a waste of time and money.  It's worth it to spend more to get the makeup that works for you, especially when it comes to foundation and powder.  If budget is tight, you can cut corners on the other things, but not on foundation.

My face is also masculine. There are some tricks to look feminine.

The first masculine feature to me is the M line.
To hide the M line in my brow, I sometimes wear a hat.
When I do not wear a hat, I hide the M line with my hair.

The second is my rough face, as here most women have extremely fair facial skin.
I do not like wearing foundation everyday. Instead, I just wear Shiseido sun cream everyday.

The third is my big nose, which I can not do any thing with.

For other features, I am a little bit luck, as the genetics made me have some feminine features. Still, I need to wear eye liner and mascara, together with lipstick to accentuate my eyes and lips.

Men are allowed to wear make up. Even full make up that is obviously done up.

At least then you'll know instead of wondering.

It depends on the artist you get, and their skill. You may or may not like the job they do, but I think you can at least get some of the base line techniques you will need to up your makeup game in general. If you want more transformative and time intensive makeup, contouring is sort of the magic wand when it comes to Feminizing or softening whatever masculine facial features you have.

Just remember that all people, and especially some of the "most attractive" women in modern media have a mix of feminine and masculine features eg: Angelina's wide jaw.

I first started buying makeup a few months before I started hormones. And at that time I was always in guy mode. I felt that the best thing for me was to just bite the bullet, go to a makeup specialty place where the artists are more capable, ex. MAC or Sephora, and tell them "Here's the deal I just accepted myself as transgender and I would like to start wearing makeup to soften features, but nothing over the top." I was scared out of my mind, but the girl was sooooooo nice about it. She remained quiet when asking me directly what I wanted when we were around other customers. I thanked her so much for her understanding. She was so sweet.

So what I'm trying to say is, maybe you could just go to a place and tell them exactly what you are looking for I know it's easier said then done, but it really helped me a lot!!!!
