I passed for the first time... and then I passed again!

Finally, a positive thread.

I was vacationing yesterday, coming out of a museum. My dad and I were walking down the sidewalk, when a little kid holding a tablet asked me, "Hey! What team are you on?"

I was confused for a second before realizing he was talking about Pokemon Go. I don't have the app, but as my brother and his friends are on the red team, I just said, "Red." I was kind of soft spoken, and the kid obviously didn't hear me. His mother then spoke up.

"He's on red team."

The kid said, "Cool! I'm yellow!"

I thought that was absolutely great. I hadn't expected to start passing so soon.

Later, I was with my family at a bowling/dining place. After eating, I went to go get my bowling shoes. The guy on the other side of the counter asked, "What size are you, bud?"

I'm so happy to have two passing encounters in just one day. I'm quite lucky.

The first time I passed, i was getting on a bus with my partner, and the bus driver called me 'pal', and when i went to sit down i couldn't stop smiling like an idiot

It will never happen due to my dad forcing me to wear female clothes now...I used to be able to wear boys until he started noticing...  Next week I'm going to have to be forced to buy female clothes for back to school

First, congrats. It's the best when you pass without trying to. I've noticed I tend to pass more when I'm not actively trying to or obsessing over passing. I think my body language might be more feminine when I'm a nervous wreck? Either way it's an awesome feeling, you're quite a lucky soul.

This might not help much depending on how your dad is, but when I was younger and had to shop in the female section of stores, I stuck with normal jeans and an oversized hoodie. Even in summer, I was the freak with the hoodie on. I would always wear a stupid girl t-shirt...but no one would ever see it as the hoodie's zipper was always pulled up. And hey, mother couldn't complain because it was all technically "girl clothing".
I hope your situation changes soon, just try to wait it out as you're dad eventually won't have a say. Good luck and hang in there.

Dude, thats BS, sorry to hear that, I know the feeling, I moved out because of shiz like that, it sucks.

I'd go with the advice above and buy neutral female clothing from the female section, although if your dad is anything like my mom he might get mad at you for wearing it and complain that the women's clothes industry is trying to make women butch and manly (...and then proceed to burn your favorite clothes).

Chin up, stick to jeans and tshirt, its what I felt comfortable with before I was able to wear boys clothes, once you pass through the youth phase of life and your parents cant tell you what to wear you can start living life on your terms and passing does come on that front with time.

Peter that sucks, totally relatable though since my family also force me to wear feminine clothes. I always find it helps to wear male underwear or other things that won't be seen when I have to wear female outer clothes. May just be me but it makes me much more comfortable, so you could maybe try that and see if it helps.

Remember it isn't forever though, I don't know how old you are but you will be gaining independence sooner or later and then you can dress how you like, so just focus on that and you'll pull through. I'm moving out next year and have great fun looking through menswear stores or catalogues and planning all the stuff I'm gonna buy once I can, that might be something to try when you're feeling down.

I hope your situation changes too. I can relate to the hoodie thing. In high school my mother refused to cut my hair so I hid it under a baseball cap and hoodie. Wore that hoodie in the summer, sure did. Sweated a lot but wouldn't take it off. Covered the hair and the chest. Wore jeans, those were very gender neutral in the 90s and jeggings hadn't been invented yet.
