People in MTF trans communities usually identify patches and injections as getting the most successful feminine results on the body.

Patches are safer and more potent than pills longer term and are now being offered to younger transgender girls and not just for over 40's or people who smoke etc.

Is there anything reliable or scientific to say estrogen injections get better results than patches?

From what I've been told by others, patches are a pain to keep on for various reasons. Injections you know what you're getting and its once a week or once every two weeks. So its pretty easy to stay consistent, which is key in having a successful hrt regimen.

I'm currently on pills (which my trans expert Doctor prescribed) and they have been working quite well-- and no injections!

On patches- I actually found they stay on very well.

The key for me is to prep the skin and hands with alcohol wipes.

I would also be interested on the efficacy of patches vs injections. I've only found a few references that say injections yield better results.  Agreed that most of what I've seen says parches are lowest risk.

what about estradiol gel? I take gel and I think it works ok but of course if somebody has better experieces with patches... I think pills are worth to consider or to consider to shift to patches because of the first pass efect of the liver. gel and patches go over the skin, so the burden for the liver is typically lower.

I'm on patches, they suit me fine. No problem keeping them on. Now, I wouldn't be using gel, it's too easy to share - as some of the guys using T gel will tell you.

I have used on pills even forgetting a few days every now and then with great results. The main factor for pills over injection was the insane pricing difference and I have no regrets with pills.
Awww no my little kitten gif site is gone :( sad.

I never did patches. I did pills and now injections. After getting use to injections I like them much better than pills.

I'm almost three years in and have been doing injections for all but about 1.5 months of that... I don't know if divinities data exists because there are so many factors in play it would be hard to attribute different results in a study to the method of administration alone. I can tell you i am glad I didn't jump the gun and get implants because I am happy and still seeing growth..... I had GRS 15 months ago and got the post-op bump as well... I never did patches because I do long runs several days a week and thought I might have uneven dosing and adhesion problems due to sweating!!!

Take Care,

Ashley :)

Feel and look better on injections vs orals BUT breast growth is less.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

Lady Do you have to travel to the Doctors to get the injections? I am already old hat as I am a diabetic. but I understand the shot has to be in the muscle rather than the fat and so has a needle that is intimidating.

Hey Dawn!... Yeah the 1.5" needle looks a bit intimidating the first couple times but I got used to it quickly... I alternate left and right sides of the butt each week... Left side is slightly more awkward since I am right handed

my patches stay on fine, but they accumulate a rectangular mark around the edge from dust or lint, and tend to leave a bit of a mark when removed.

I'll stay with them though.

I think it's important to note that basically the effectiveness is dependent on how well the estrogen gets absorbed by the body. Following this logic an injection or pill would get the best "result" because the most amount of estrogen is entering the body directly
