So I'm still about a month away from getting my letter for HRT. But I was wondering, if I go to the endocrinologist before I get my letter, can I still have my blood tests done?

As in would it be covered by insurance?

If that is the question, it is doubtful.

However, there may be more informed people here.

My endo sent me to the lab to get the blood tests done after the first appointment but I already had my reference letter by then. Once the results came back I went for the 2nd appointment at which time he gave me the prescription.  I'm not sure if he/she wants to send you to get your blood done before you present the letter but I guess it depends on the endo..

Feel free to PM me, I'm happy to help, don't be shy... :)

My endo gave me the prescription at the same time as the blood tests, before she had the results.

If you want the blood test now you should ask the endo.  If they know what it's all about I can't see any reason for them to refuse unless they want the letter before they do anything.

My endocrinologist also gave me my prescriptions and ordered blood tests at our first meeting.  I had very specific instructions on what to take first, how much, and when to start other prescribed items.

The test results came in before I had started some things, and when she had the results and saw a problem, she contacted me (via a messaging/e-mail system) and adjusted what I would be taking, along with scheduling some follow up tests and actions.

You'd probably need the letter before tests to demonstrate that the tests were medically necessary and get insurance to pay for them.  It is probably best to wait for the endocrinologist to order what she really needs.
