Hi everyone, I'm glad to have found you. I'm 62 years old and still hiding in the closet. Have days where I absolutely know I need to move forward and days where it seems better to sit still. You'll find me lurking at the corners of discussions, occasionally saying something. Mainly though, I'm here to learn.

Thanks for making me one of your group.

Hi, Joan!

I'm also 62, out to immediate family, and probably out in the world as myself about 1/3 of the time now.  I figured out my true nature over 30 years ago, and tried to repress it for my family.  Bad idea.  I wound up coming out to them about 6 months ago, started HRT and electrolysis, and am learning how to be myself.  Family hasn't been easy, for most of us.  I had to move forward, for my own safety and state of mind, though.

This is a wonderful site to learn from, and get your questions answered.  Everyone here is friendly and helpful, and remarkably free from the judgemental stuff I've seen elsewhere.  Susan and the staff keep this a safe place for us.

One of the moderators will likely be along shortly to give you some tips and useful links.  I just wanted to say "Hi!"

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.
Electrolysis - Hours in The Chair: 238 (8.5 were preparing for GCS, five clearings); On estradiol patch June 2016; Full-time Oct 22, 2016; GCS Oct 20, 2017; FFS Aug 28, 2018; Stage 2 labiaplasty revision and BA Feb 26, 2019

Welcome to Susan's Place. As mentioned before I am one of the moderators and we aren't that bad. We do tend to keep an eye on things so they don't get to far out of control and we we are here to help you should you need assistance using the site.

As for posting, you might be surprised. Many people come here only expecting to make a few posts but quickly get caught in the spirt of the site and are soon engaged in many of the conversations. I have been post surgical a very long time and came here for information on voice surgery - something that was developed long after I transitioned and now look at my post count after a little over a year.

In any case, should you need anything, just let us know.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.
