Welcome to Susan's Place. You haven't mentioned how long you have been on HRT but your face is fairly feminine already. Any doctor suggesting a major restructuring of your face should be looked at with caution and if you have only been on HRT for a short time, it would be best for you to wait a while before deciding on FFS. I will admit I am not an expert on FFS and other may be able to give you a more detailed description of what you should look at however remember that even CIS women often masculine features that add to their attractiveness so it's not necessary to attempt perfection.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Hi Dena, thanks for the welcome, i've been on hrt for 1 and 3/4 of a year, but i was on hormones before, then decided to detransition for a year, to find myself. Sometimes i feel like i'm going backwards not forward, like the picture where i have long hair and then short, one day i look masculine other days feminine, so you could imagine how i felt when some of the surgeons i contacted gave me a list of very invasive surgeries. Thats why i'm here.

Hope to hear more comments soon.

My avatar was taken about 1986 and the only work on my face was my nose as FFS hadn't been invented yet. In any case, my face is long so the best hair cut for me is medium length and full. Perms work great but they are a pain and I am attempting to find a cut that doesn't need a perm. At my age, it's no longer worth considering FFS and I am comfortable with myself.

As for you, what do you feel you need? What did the doctors suggest you need and what are your goals? Would you be comfortable with just a few changes or do you want the works. We tend to be our own worst critics and we see all our flaws. I was full time for about a year and a half before I could see my face as feminine. Others on the forum have similar difficulty so it's best to rely on the judgement of others about your appearance.

I thnk you already look feminine  your young so  you have plenty of time to let hrt work its wonders ...if you want to see what could be, you  could try virtual ffs  like  have those surgical  procedures  applied virtually  but from what I've  seen on these forums  just hrt alone is enough the results are truly  amazing

Sometimes is hard to tell what ffs i want, i just wat to be happy, comfortable thats all. I guess i would like an adams apple shave and a chin shave, perhaps a jaw shave too, maybe, and a little rhinoplasty and electrolysis. Ofcourse my list could go on, in our search for comfortability it would be so much easier to do our whole face and thats exactly what some doctors suggested. Thank you all for the replys it's really helping.

Electrolysis or laser hair removal would help a good idea. Your adams apple isn't bad but it's not a difficult or expensive operation and could be knocked out in half a day. Your nose is nice and is feminine already so be very careful about having it altered. Your jaw is weak making it feminine appearing but possibly work would be possible there but I am not a good judge of that. I don't really see that many problems. Start with facial hair removal and think about the rest. Also get the opinions of several surgeons and ask their reasons for each procedure. Have them prioritize them from most important to least important. You may discover you really only need a limited number of procedures.

I completely agree with this comment!  You're young and HRT will probably work wonders on you. I think you are off to a great start. Being young is a plus. I use to look like a gorilla when I started HRT and I took almost 6 years before I considered getting FFS and I'm glad I did.

Enjoy the journey!

I find it interesting how a lot of girls here wait until the hormones have done all they can to get ffs. I detransitioned ones after being on hormones for a year. Then searched for myself for a year and a half. Then transition for another year and a half. I feel like i wasted alot of time, so im trying to have my ffs as soon as posible. Thank you for your feedback.

In my opinion, your face is neither strongly feminine nor strongly masculine at this point. It is probably very close to gender neutral. If you look around on the net, you will see that a gender neutral face can easily be pushed to looking either feminine or masculine with hairstyle and make-up.

Whether or not you get FFS at some point in your life and when you get it is a very personal decision. It depends somewhat on what your goal is. If your goal is "to pass" I expect that with long hair, HRT and hair removal, that you will be able to pass without too much trouble.

However, some of us do elect to have FFS even though we already pass because we want to look as feminine as we are able. It's not an easy decision because it does require a lot of money and energy for something that might not be strictly "needed." I definitely don't want to push you in that direction, but I don't think it's anyone's job to try to talk you out of something that you feel in your heart is right for you either.

I am curious about why you de-transitioned, if you don't mind talking about it.

Hi Rhonda, thanks for the comment. Growing up i had no concept of self, had no name that i felt comfortable with, had no connection with my self and body. So at 19 when i found out that transgender was an actual thing,  my depresion got deeper than before. Whithin a couple of months i was on hrt, yet i still knew not who i was, so a year later i was so desparate and skinny i saw no change. Ready to give up my mom, who i was living with at the time and who had no idea of just how deep my depression was; suddently decided to move to florida. I had no plan to de-transition but in a bible belt of a town, and with my social anxiety of the roof, i couldn't find the courage to see a doctor. I soon ran out of hormones but i used this time to search for my self, to find the meaning of my life, specially; i used this time to find out what hunted me the most, what in the world is a man, and a women? After a year and a half of walking about, and soul searching i returned to my old town got with my doctor and began hrt again, still confused yet with new found conviction.

I'm still searching, but thats all part of life. Now i know that im a women no matter how tomboyish i am, i have no plans for passing, i love androgyne, but still love looking feminine.  I still live in dysphoria, and depression even now, thats why i want to have ffs as soon as posible but with as little surgery as posible, thats why i'm looking for feed-back sence it's hard to tell what i would need looking at my own face. My hope is if i can have a feminine looking face that i feel comfortable with i could stop feeling less dysphoric and expand my horizon, sence i have no concept of what it feels like to feel comfortable in my body, its only a dream right now. I would apreciate your comment on what ffs i could need. Chao.

Your post was very honest and genuine. Thank you for sharing it. I know how hard it is to love yourself when you are not happy with the person you see in the mirror. I hope that you can learn to love yourself a little because there is a beautiful person inside wanting to get out for the world to see.

I went through a time of searching too. I  knew that the way that I had been living was miserable and I had to change it but didn't know for sure what to do. I made friends with some drag queens at one point and they helped me get dressed up that way a couple of times. It was fun in some ways but I figured out that wasn't right for me. (Side note - one of the drag queens I met during that time came out to me as also being trans) I had a very brief relationship - if you could even call it a relationship - with a gay man. He wanted to be with a man and I couldn't be that. For a while I was gender-bending a bit in my style. In all of this, I sort of had to "try on some things to see what fit and what didn't."

Everyone is unique and the important thing is to find a safe and healthy way to explore who you are.

I suggest that you put off FFS for the time being. My advice is to do things like hair extensions or wigs, make-up, HRT, laser hair removal or electrolysis, etc. All of these will get you results perhaps faster than you think. I think that before long you will develop a look that you like and find out how you like going through the world as a that person. From your message it sounds like you want to present yourself as a young woman. I suggest that you try that on and see how you like going through the world that way. Not just going to a club or party, but just day to day, not glamorous, being a woman in the world. The more you experience it the better.

After a couple of years, if you find that living as a woman is how you want to live your life, than FFS is always an option.

If you find that your facial features are really detracting from your appearance after a reasonable time, a rhinoplasty might be a good option for you short of full FFS. It is a lot less expensive and invasive but could do a lot for your appearance.

It's a brave thing to be willing to find yourself and not simply conform to what the world expects you to be.

Whatever you do, stay safe and be true to yourself.

You can PM me if you like. :)

Hugs,
Rhonda

At most I think you need maybe a slight brow bone reduction if it bothers you and a tracheal shave. You're already very pretty!

I think electrolysis/laser will go a long way for you. You'll probably want to get a trach shave. Not sure anything else is necessary.

Hi everybody thank you so much for your comments i've almost made up mu mind on what surgeries to get. Sence my face is neutral all i need is to change a couple things to make it look androgynously feminine. I would apreciate it if i had more comments. Thank you.
