When you dream are you the same genders as you have, are, or plan to transition too?

Yes and I have completed my transition
No and I have completed my transition
Yes and I am transitioning
No and I am transitioning
Yes and I have not started transitioning
No and I have not started transitioning
No I never am a gender in my dreams
Sometimes I am one gender and other times I am the other

I don't remember my dreams very often but when I do I'm either a male in gender or just me.
I really wonder what that means.
I believe that my mind is female but does this mean my subconscious still believe that I am a male?
I really don't know what do you think about this. ???

I'm still preop so my transition is not quite over yet but I'm looking forward to scheduling surgery for 2009.  I'm always a woman in my dreams.

Your question "When you dream are you the same genders as you did are or plan to transitioning too?" is difficult to understand. I think I know what you are asking...its hard to discern exactly what you meant, (either you have some extra words in that sentence or not enough), but I'm glad you brought the subject up.

I constantly dream of the person I am inside. I have seen myself fully transitioned several times in the mirror in my dreams. Sometimes I'm blonde sometimes I'm brunette but always a pretty woman brushing hair or getting ready to go somewhere. I always wake up excited and ready to get that person out, but I have such a long ways to go.

my dreams mainly happen in the first person and i only have my identity not my gender. If I am a specific gender i swap depending on the requirements of the dream story.

My transition is already complete.  I've always been female in my dreams except in a few instances prior to transition when I was not aware of my physical sex.  According to my therapist, dreaming in your target gender happens when you have transitioned mentally.

nice, sort of an anima type. I've had lots of dreams about pursuing women, I thought it was my lusty appetites...

That's profound, Tink.  I guess I'm farther along than I thought.  Most of my dreams are female, that I remember anyway.

Funny a topic like this came up. I've often used my dreams as evidence to tell people how I feel about things. My logic being that I don't choose what to dream, they just happen so that must be how I think, feel...etc.

Almost without exception when I have a good dream I have a male body, usually a teenage male body. Whether I dreamed when I was younger than a teen or now after my teen years I am a teen male. On the flip side whenever I have nightmares or any unpleasant dream I have my current frame every single time. I have never ever had an unpleasant dream while being male, in the dream, and only very few times do I have a good dream while being female, in the dream.

So I am as both in my dreams, but definitely have issues because of how when I am like this everything is hunky dory but when I'm like that it's to hell in a hand basket!

recently I don't remember my gender in my dreams, but I do know that since I was a kid I have had profound and realistic dreams on occasion where I was a woman. This is all prior to me transing, I don't wan't to get into details but there was a man involved in one and when I woke up I felt like it really happened. Those dreams helped me later accept my GID issues and move forward, I feel like in some ways my dreams are coming true. "I feel like crying when I say that"

I think you could do another topic on that....what gender are you in your dreams after transition?? Interesting.....

I am a pre-op and still in transition.  My transition has started to make it into my dreams the last mouth of so.  Before transition I often had dreams where I was trying to became a women but none where I actually was one.

When it comes to dreams, I've experienced the full spectrum in my lifetime.  I have transitioned and in my dreams now, I am always female.  And for several years now, while in public in my dreams, I've managed to keep all my clothes on.

The majority of the time I'm female but sometimes I'm not conscious of what sex I am

I'm so proud of you, Cindi! ;)

Was usually male in dreams before transition, except for those sorts of vulnerability dreams Cindi's talking about. I was female in those dreams. I haven't had one of those dreams (which for me take the form of needing a bathroom and the only ones available are up on a stage, or in the middle of the street or something) since transitioning. Now I'm just me in my dreams. Sometimes fully intact bio male, sometimes just me as I am.

My dreams tended to reflect my physical reality OR simply be genderless.

Before transitioning, I'd often be my ordinary male self - but fully conscious of my GID. I'm usually self-aware in my dreams, so my worldly problems followed me into them. I'd have the occasional dream of being an ordinary woman too, but less often.

During transition, it tended to really fluctutate. Sometimes my old male self, sometimes my future female self, sometimes a hybrid.

Many months into a transition now, I'm just Kate. People even CALL me "Kate" in my dreams (which might be an interesting question for everyone too). But even dreaming as Kate now, I'm aware of the fact that I still need SRS. Just last night I dreamt of getting changed at a coworkers house to go to a party, and I hesitated in sharing the bathroom with her as I still had THAT part.

Still pre-op, not for too long though.  Mostly female.  Other times I dont quite know.

I'm stuck in what Sandy calls Gender Jail so I am terminally pre-op.
Mostly female but sometimes when I do the naked dream, I have the feeling of being embarrassed that I still have the fiddly bits down there and the rest of being naked is OK with me.  I dream that I walk about naked but the bits are tucked out of sight. That my breasts are showing, is no problem.  I often dream of being in beautiful dresses and other women's styles. Once, I dreamed that I was having sex as a woman with another woman. That was the most beautiful dream of my life.

Not to tangent too much here, but I occasionally have these odd dreams where a woman will try to seduce me... and I get SO annoyed, lol. I end up laughing at her, like "who do you think you're dealing with here? This is NOT going to work honey. I KNOW these tricks, I AM these tricks - or will be someday," lol.

OR, I'll be affectionate and kiss a girl... you know, in a "thank you, that was sweet" kinda way. But no, they ALWAYS want *more*. And I get annoyed. See above.

'Tis a strange (dreaming) life.
