There isn't much you can do to make hair grow faster than have a healthy diet. Other than than, I suspect the issue is you hair was cut long on the top and short on the sides and back. Had you started with a shaved head, the growth would appear more even. As it is, when your hair starts looking shaggy, go for an even length cut where the longer hair is trimmed and the short hair is left alone. Hair growth is between .5 and one inches a month so be patient.

There is some evidence that the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil capsules can also benefit your hair, making it shinier and stronger.

I take a daily supplement of fish oil. I figure why not?  It has lots of health benefits as well!

In addition to fish oil which definitely makes sense, i would add that the vitamin Biotin is supposed to aid in hair growth and quality.

Yes, I have heard that too.  Biotin is supposedly helpful in helping hair grow faster and stronger.  It also makes your nails (fingernails) more resilient.

I tried biotin myself for a while, but I didn't really notice a difference in how fast my hair was growing on my head.  What I DID notice was that my facial hair seemed to be growing back faster!  I was and am still doing laser hair removal, and it almost seemed counter-productive to me to keep doing both laser and biotin.  So I stopped taking biotin.  I don't think it's worth it.  To me, it's more important to have less facial hair than to have more head hair.

Fish oil is good though!  I take it every day.  Most Americans don't eat enough fish (too expensive, or live too far away from the coastal areas).  Fish oil caplets are a great way to get those Omega-3 fatty acids, which have been clinically proven to have many health benefits.

It can also help to take a multi-vitamin every day.  It's difficult to get every vitamin and nutrient from food alone.  So, taking a multi-vitamin such as Centrum can help fill in those dietary gaps.  (Centrum happens to have a tiny bit of biotin in it too, but nothing like the 5000% daily value you get from biotin supplements)

So my advice - just eat healthy.  And take a multi-vitamin and a fish oil caplet once a day to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need.  Your hair will grow and be healthy if you yourself are healthy and take care of yourself.

Haven't tried Biotin but I've been taking Fish Oil with Omega-3 every morning along with my regimen of a multivitamin and HRT meds for several years

Not only is fish oil good for your hair but if I understand correctly it also helps reduce the risk of coronary heart disease

I am unsure about how safe biotin really is. The best thing you can do is eat healthily, keep active, and look after your hair. Make sure you aren't over or under washing it. Don't use products that might damage it etc.

I see nothing wrong with fish oil. Living in Norway it is a common supplement. I don't take it myself, but I eat a lot of fish.

Here's the best advice you will receive on this: Find something else to concern yourself with for a few months. Get involved in work or some activity and stop worrying about how fast your hair is growing. Do that and you will be surprised at how fast it's growing.
