Ok everyone, what are you going as for Halloween? Oh, and post a pic if you can! ^^  Oh, i'm going as a woman, everyone supposedly knows about me in this town, so i'm gonna see if I can sneak by. *grins mischievously.* Oh I plan to have fun with this!

tomorrow i'm attending class as a super stereotypical emo chick, although I will probably end up a mix between emo and goth stereotypes due to what I have available...

I stayed home, sat on the front steps sipping hot soup and handed out candy to the neighbor kiddies, dressed as a grandma.  Oh yeah....I always dress that way

If it was not for the media I would have never known it was Halloween. The church people here will not let their kids trick or treat, they have parties at church. I did not see one person in costume.

I live in a churchy area too, mostly Baptists. Did you not know that Halloween is Satan's Gateway Drug to Hell?!?!

I just wore my Kinky gear. I went to a party before halloween. I actually stayed home one halloween. I was partied out. Halloween = too many parties. I went out last night (the 1st) however. I'm glad the parties are mostly over. Saturday is theater night (we're watching a play about jack the ripper). And, then, the following weekend I think I'm going to a potluck, probably. I always have things to do. LOL

Anyway, here's a couple of pix that my roommate took before I went out. Dancing in a corset sux. I somehow thought it would be a good idea, and everytime I do it I kill myself. Just to note, I just went to the goth night, not an actual play party... that's later in the month. The corset is PVC and a pain, there are no claps, so someone must put it on me and take it off me (I'm helpless, I can't take it off myself at all... very slave like, LOL). I've lose weight since I got this corset (a year ago), so it's actually not on that tight, and we made it as tight as we could, which wasn't super tight -- still restrictive, as corsets are, and of course, hard to dance in.

I miss the days when the streets were flooded with kids in costume.  But I have to admit, with the poisonings and razor bladed and violence, etc.  I am glad that someone is providing a safe alternative where kids can still have fun.  And some churches do indeed still have Halloween carnivals.

I considered crossdressing

Uh, actually, I did, but I crossdress every day, I just happened to wear my nice going out clothes with a badass dio del muerte mask and 'pimp hat' that everyone thought looked awesome because I've learned to color coordinate, and my mom actually suggested i borrow one of her silk shirts to match my hat.

But I considered going as a ->-bleeped-<-, but I figured I'm too androgynous as is. It's cute when the 6 foot tall straight guy does it. When you already get ma'amed from time to time and you don't need a wig or fake nails, people probably start to wonder...

We went to a dyke bar, the Exotic/Erotic Ball and Tony Sara's Annual Halloween Party at the Great American Music Hall. Nothing like Halloween (The Gay Christmas) in San Francisco. O What a Night!

There has never been a documented case of a incident involving razor blades and halloween candy, but it sure makes for a good news story every year.  There was one documented incident of a poisoning, but it was a father who poisoned his kids candy hoping that he wouldn't be a suspect in their murder.

BTW, the story you refer to happened in the neighborhood where I used to trick or treat as a kid, and it happened the year after I stopped because I thought I was too old.  That nut case father (aka "The Candyman") was a neighbor, though not someone I personally knew.  He was trying to collect life insurance.  One of the churches in that area cared enough for the kids that it began a carnival the next year to provide a safe alternative.  It continues to this day and is a huge event.  There's tons of candy, games, costumes, food, and more.  Volunteers from the fire department come with an inspection station to screen any candy the kids might get out on the streets they want checked.   All in all, the church saved the holiday for the neighborhood.
