What is your birth order?

Only child
1st born of small family
1st born of large family
2nd born of small family
2nd born of large family
3rd born
4th born
More than 4th born

Amy Chislett

So I am reading a biology book where birth order is a considerable idea throughout the theme. And it got me thinking, whether there is any link between the order in the sibling pack and transgender issues broadly. The question is gender neutral.

Oldest of three, I had two younger brothers.  I once read the oldest child was the most likely to be trans but have never seen anything else to corroborate that.

Middle kid with a sister 5 years older than myself and a brother 3 years younger and another brother stillborn 3 years after that. The time between my birth and my sisters leads me to believe there was a miscarriage in between and was the reason for DES to be prescribed while I was in utero. WWW.desaction.org

I'm not sure the "Birth Order" really plays a part.. What might, however, play a part is that the environment the mother lives in at the time of each pregnancy plays a part.. What chemicals is she exposed to? How is her diet? Stress levels? These are all things that I'd see as having an effect rather than simple birth order.

Oldest of 5, all assigned male at birth.  One showed signs of DES exposure as I did, and was treated surgically about age 1.
Earth my body, water my blood, air my breath and fire my spirit.

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

3rd of 3 children, all assigned males at birth...I was supposed to be the girl (if my parents plans had worked out) that meant 3 children under 3 for my 19 year old mother who went on to try again for a cis girl with my but ending up with my youngest brother 7 years later. My Parents never treated me any differently, the whole "you were supposed to be a girl" was more of a taunt from my brothers than the reality of the situation. I think my  mother once said that yes she had planned to have a girl but was happy enough to get 4 essentially healthy children...

One sibling, a brother who's two years older. I was reading an article which said it's possible that the testosterone left over from creating a male baby could then create an ftm child next time. But seeing as how we're two years apart I'm guessing that's unlikely what happened and instead my mum simply had naturally high T levels.
They/them pronouns preferred.

I was always under the assumption that the womb insulates the foetus from the mother's bloodstream preventing diseases from messing with it's development, with the nutrients going through the umbilical cord. I didn't think hormones would be able to go through to mess with it.
