I no longer shave or wax after treating my legs with Tria home laser a few years ago.

What has been your experience using the Tria, Barbie?  I've not seen that option before, and while its a bit pricey it might be worth saving up for.

Is it easy to use?
Sincerely,
Kassandra or Kass.

It is easy, but requires a lot of patience. For me, it took about 2 years to remove most of my leg hairs by using Tria once every 2 weeks. As hair regenerate and grow in every 2 months, you need to treat every hair by Tria in two months. You can not treat all hairs within one day. You may mark and remember the part you already treated, and move to the next part. After reading the user's manual, you can figure out the cycle of hair regrowth.

A merit of Tria is that you can treat whenever you have leisure time, and no need of appointment.

I shave or epilate, the rest of me get's waxed but not my legs. I sort of like the ritual of leg shaving, no idea why.

I have heard that Nair has improved their formula and the smell. Did anyone else hear that?

Nair stinks, at least to my nose, but it says it is supposed to smell better, so if it smells better than it did it must have been truly horrible before.

Does laser permanently remove hair?  I keep hearing both yes and no.

If the new stuff is a better smell than the old stuff, then it still stinks really bad!  I have seen the results of laser with several friends that have had their legs done and after several sessions, the hair is gone.

If you can't afford the laser, I'd recommend the Braun epilator. I tried veet and nair but it seemed like a recurring cost that didn't last long enough. Now I just use the epilator every once in a while.

Yesterday I ordered my 2nd Tria through the web site here. It is about US$ 500 here. The 4 X model is supposedly more powerful than the previous one. I need to remove hair in my bikini area and some remaining hairs in my arm pits and other areas.

Epilators also cause ingrowth of hair.

Tria seems not to be for everyone, but it was very efficient and effective for my body (black hair and relatively fair skin color in fall and winter).

Just an update ...

Nair does work, I had no negative effects. But, I'm back to shaving, it's more effective and if you use a good razor, no problems. I have very little body hair, and I find the Bic disposable 4 blade razor works well. No nicks or cuts so far. I have been back and forth on this for years, but like someone mentioned, I enjoy the bath tub time to shave. Nair is a bit more frantic, as you have to get it off pretty fast. I don't need hair removal on my legs as I have pretty much normal girl leg hair. I only need to shave about once a month.

I wax most of the hair I want removed but I also have an epilator which I was mostly using on my arms. Recently I have started doing other areas as well. The prevention of ingrown hairs is largely a skin care thing... exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate!! You may still get some but it should reduce them dramatically. My epilator is the Braun Silk epil 7. it works pretty good but is a little pricier. it comes with different heads which are supposed to make it easier to do some areas but I found one works pretty good for everything I do.

I had a reaction to Nair a long time ago and haven't tried it again. that experience has sort of put me of all the creams and what not.

I also have a Tria and it has worked great for me. My approach which is totally not following the instructions but.. I get everything waxed and then I do it a couple time a week for 2-3 weeks. Starting towards the end of the first week after waxing. I know this sounds counter productive but my reasoning is that although the tria is supposed to be the most powerful home laser... it still isn't as powerful as commerial units. so If I can get the hairs when they are just starting to grow back it will work better. so far I've seen about a 90% reduction in hair where I have used it. I also have always been naturally not very hairy. the big downside is it has small head which makes doing large areas more time consuming and tedious then larger devices. I also have a lot of little blonde hairs in certain areas which it doesn't do anything to.

My little disclaimer to the above is that not following manufactures instructions may be dangerous and cause injury or other unwanted affects. Be careful and use your discretion.
