Hi everyone! This group is a fantastic TG resource. Thank you Susan for creating and maintaining it. I started on spirolactone 1.5 months ago. The first 2 weeks I was at xx mg then my doctor bumped me up to xx mg. I see her in 2 weeks and hope to bump up to xx mg. I want to ask the group questions about their spiro timelines/milestones. If everypne could please tell me...
Dosage?
When they first starting noticing testicular atrophy?
When they first started noticing breast tissue activity?

Please and thank you,
Silken Mist

Its common and senseable that doctors normally start people  on low doses to check for adverse reactions.
Spriconolotane is a testosterone blocker, you need estrogen  source as well. And some doctors add progesterone later down the track ( careful to only use bioindentical progesterone).
Just like normal cisgender puberty,  things take time.
As for breast tissue development,  you feel nipple area get sore
and tender pretty quickly and buds will start to form under the nipple area

Hello Silken Mist,

Hey nice name!  I am sure one of the moderators will be along soon to give you the official welcome and Terms of Service. The rules preclude specific dosages and reasonably so.  The amount of spiro a 16 yo may require and their results are going to be apple to oranges different than what it took me as a 61 yo transitioner.  I used spiro (my manoway drug) for a couple of years before my surgical solution.  My strength, libido, emotional and testicular changes started within weeks and I felt euphoric for months.  My breast started becoming very sensitive, sprouted buds and have grown out very nicely for me.  We are fond of say "your mileage may vary" as a way to recognize how very unique our individual responses are.  You can also use the search features to read the many many threads along this line that are in the archives here.  Good luck and welcome aboard.  It is quite a ride.

Hi Silken Mist  :icon_wave:

Welcome to Susan's Place  :)  Glad to have you here, join on in the fun but dosages are not allowed per Site Rules

Quote8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:
A. You may not advocate for or against a specific medication or combinations of medication for personal gain. This is strictly prohibited.
B. You may not discuss the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription. The discussion of self medication without a doctor's supervision is prohibited.
C. The posting of recommended, or actual dosages, is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We cannot in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

Here are some links to the site rules and stuff that we offer to all new members to help them along

OMG!! I'm soooooo sorry.  :embarrassed:

Hey please don't worry, this is how we learn, by sharing :)

One other thing I should have said, was that i was simultaneously on Estradiol patches.  Spiro alone is one way to start but I think some have found it to be a downer without the E.

How are you feeling?

I've been on Spiro for 25 years or so, for congestive heart failure. It is a diuretic. I remember complaining to my cardiologist that my nipples burned after about 6 months. I soon developed "man boobs" as my kids called them. They were mosquito bites really. But my sexual urge disappeared soon after and I've had ED since. My dosage was increased when I started with HRT. The estradiol has filled my breasts out by one cup size and made them rounder. So now I am in the B+ range. Other than taking an inordinate number of bathroom breaks, Spiro by itself has not done much but I was on low dosages.

Thank you for the reponses so far. I don't have a schedule for estrogen yet, only the sprio for the foreseeable future. Did anyone have any testicular atrophy and how many monthes into the spiro did it start happening? THAT'S what I want to happen fastest and the most.

It differs for everyone. Everyone responds different and what helps one many not help another as much or as quickly. Spiro by itself is just blocking the T so it isn't going to cause much change except for muscle loss which can be done by not doing certain things. Not sure what I had changed in size actually. Hugs

I started HRT 6 years ago at age 58. The timeline of the symptoms is about the same with the others mentioned above. Enjoy the ride!
I was put off of E 2 months ago for foot swelling and off of Spiro a month ago to test my prostate and to give my body a rest while it regains the certain minerals that Spiro flushes. In that time the testes swelled a bit and the libido increased. Remember, this is unusual for this amount of time on HRT and for a 64 year old!  The hair started to grow on the legs and beard area more. Thus far no return of the dysphoria nor the depression that I had the decades before. However, the foot swelling is still a problem. If another cause for that is found, I'm back on HRT.
