SRS (Sigmoid Colon) with Dr. Narendra - Olmec Clinic, New Delhi, India 05/11/16

Hello Girls,

Finally got my Sigmoid Colon Vaginoplasty on 05/11/2016 at Olmec Clinic, New Delhi India. Wanted to write about my experience, hoping it may add value to anyone looking for SRS in New Delhi.

My initial choice for surgery was Dr. Chettawut, whom I visited this January and seemed a very caring and professional person who explained the procedures, with more emphasis on FFS. However, in the month of April, came across a person who had undergone SRS at Olmec and gave a pretty good review. Soon after having a consultation at Olmec with Dr. Narendra, chose to undergo surgery with him for the following reasons:

I live in the same city and hence can easily visit him for a follow-up/complication;
I preferred Sigmoid Colon as heard about some penile inversion SRS that required colon vaginoplasty due to vaginal closure. Dr. Narendra has a very good experience in this area
Cost is definitely cheaper (though wasn't my primary reason)
Good local referrals


Now coming to the Surgery (05/11/2016)

01/11/2016 - 03/11/2016: Controlled diet with only fruits. vegetables and liquids.
04/11/2016 - Admitted to the clinic, all day on glucose water and a medication powder added to water to cleanse the bowel (had to finish 4 litres, tasted horrible). There were a lot of visits to the washroom. At night, they put a needle and attached a drip with glucose and antibiotics.

05/11/2016 - Early morning, they asked me to walk down to the OT, and attached another drip (with General Anaesthesia). Ok, this sounds a little wierd, but I think I got conscious at the final stage of the operation as could hear people talking and could feel them doing stuff down there, and was in some pain (I am pain intolerant, hence am sure that was still under the effect of G.A. as could tolerate that pain). However could not really open my mouth nor eyes. For about 10 mins I had the sensation of trying to open my eyes or moving my hands a little, but just couldn't. After 10 mins, I see myself opening my eyes and was really thirsty. Wasn't allowed water though and felt that my lips and throat were very dry. They had now put me on 2 drips (1 side antibiotics and pain killer and the other with blood transfusion). The pain was tolerable. Every 3 hours I found myself needing a little pain killer, mostly to help me sleep, lol, as otherwise found it too uncomfortable, as you can't really move. Btw, did't really feel much pain down there, only in the stomach area due to colon.

06/11/2016-08/11/2016: Wasn't allowed water as Dr. said that gut had to be completely dry to allow air to pass. Was glad my mom was there and I was constantly asking her to wet my lips. Lying down on bed continuously was very uncomfortable. Was constantly asking mom and nurses to place a pillow under my feet (heel area starting paining), switch AC on/off, place/remove additional pillows under my head.

09/11/2016-11/11/2016: Much more comfortable, was able to slightly move, pain in the stomach was much less, didn't really need pain killers. Was now allowed 2 sips of water every 2 hours, then every 1 hour and later was allowed juices. Starting getting minor pain, more like slight shock kind of sensation down there, which got my worrying (now I know they were nerves regaining sensation).

12/11/2016 - 1 week post surgery - the dressing and catheter were removed, was asked to walk for the first time after surgery. This was tough. Needed nurses help to take me to OT room, where doctor had a look and said it's looking good, and did a session of dilation on a dilator made by Form (Soft). It was pretty swollen. Later that day, I had difficulty peeing and was waiting for a long time, sitting on the toiled, before I could finally pee.

14/11/2016 - Returned home. Starting having fresh juices and soup. Pain was much less at the stomach area, and practically no pain down there except for those minor electrical shocks (nerves).

18/11/2016 - Started Semi-Liquid diet.


21/11/2016 - went for a follow-up. Doctor now gave another 2 dilators (Medium and Large) - Soft ones; Swelling minimum, Have noticed that the Clitoris is too sensitive. Dilation morning and evening is not very painful, but pained a lot today as doctor inserted multiple dilators of different widths and lengths. Follow-up visit on 28/11/2016, wherein a large hard dilator will be given.


My overall experience was pretty good, am happy with the result. Doctor had told he would leave a little skin for a touch-up after a month or two for appearance sake. There still is swelling and I feel the labia is left with additional skin. I hope it will be okay after the swelling goes completely down and that would be taken care in the touch-up session. Doctor's explanation and care was pretty good and satisfying. 2 weeks post-op I feel I am mostly okay and would be returning to work on 23/11/2016.

To be honest, the infrastructure is relatively simple, but you will find all the basic necessities.

The room is equipped with a TV with local and international channels, Air Conditioner, there is an attached washroom, a small sofa (divan0 for visitors, adjustable patient beds (to adjust the head rest - incline buttons), wifi (on request). That's pretty much one would need.

There isn't a lift. You would have to take the stairs (hardly 10/15). The nurses are helpful and the staff will get you juices in case you need from the nearby stores. You would be given a emergency call remote, which is vet helpful as the nurses  come to see you immediately for any assistance.

Overall, I was satisfied with the infrastructure.

Btw, they have 2 floors (in some kind of residential apartment). the first floor was divided into clinic (OT and patient visits/appointments) and the patient rooms, and I suppose the other floor consists only of patient rooms.

I was given a room on the 1st floor, so noticed that there was a high level of activity. Although the room is closed and there is enough privacy, you would be able to sometimes hear the noise outside if people are talking loudly (given all the patients, nurses, admin staff would mostly sit there on the same floor).

I really didn't notice much odor. Yeah, its moist and sometimes, after dilation, I noticed some kind of lubrication (felt like a gel) coming out. There is certainly some smell, but it's very little and you notice when you try to smell it (Lol, I did try to smell just to see how bad it was..IMO it was like a mild smell of semen..). The smell is not really that strong. You certainly won't be able to sense it otherwise.

I was reading in one of the posts, a user commenting that it is important to have a pad/spare panty as during nighttime, you may notice some discharge (this lub/gel kind of thing). It hadn't happened to me until yesterday. Yesterday night woke up with down there little wet. I think it must have been due to the long session of dilation with multiple dilations at doctors office during the day that causes this...It might be a concern...I certainly wouldn't want this to happen daily..but from some other posts I have seen, I am guessing it's normal.

To be honest, I had read a little about this doctor. There were 2 posts which mentioned his work in this forum, and I totally agree with them (post under TineVane's thread (Olmec).
Apart from these, there really weren't many reviews online, at least detailed ones which would help me make a decision. There is a local website, but the reviews there were good, but with no details at all. The person I met, who had undergone surgery with him, also gave a pretty good review, but didn't go into details. And next time I tried contacting her, couldn't reach her. However from little I read, everything seemed to be true. When I met the doctor for consultation, he gave me a detailed explanation of the procedure and references of other people who had undergone the surgery. I was pretty satisfied. Having only two doctors in mind, I decided this one, as he seems to have more experience in colon vaginoplasty, which is the one I was more interested in.


Coming to the depth, I certainly don't think it is 9' or more than that. I believe the dilator I was given yesterday was 8'. I should be visiting him next Monday and can give a confirmation on that thereafter.

Did he tell you how he could get around to not making this painful (I spoke to some of his clients  and at PAI ) and it seem like this procedure is less painful than that inversion technique

Btw, turns out I was not dilating properly. I though I heard the doctor say 5 mins morning and evening. Considering sigmoid vaginoplasty is different from the penile inversion, I thought it is possible that 5 mins morning and evening are sufficient. However my parents were pretty sure it was 15 mins. After coming back from the follow-up session, and dilating with the 7 inch dilators for about 15-20 minutes, I now notice a lot of discharge and answer to your previous question - it does smell awful. Though it would it be okay as the smell won't reach others. You would not have any problems at the airport. Though, now I feel that a pad is necessary.

Hello Yashika, its good to hear that your surgery went well. I hope you recover well and get back on your feet as soon as possible.
    You probably don't know me, we haven't yet talked here because I'm new here. Actually, its just been over 2 days since I joined this forum.
      I am from India, 21 years old, and find myself at cross-roads in my life. I was born a male, but identify myself as a female.
      I have had doubts about myself since I was a child, but I had a moment of self-actualization just a couple months ago. It was then that I came out to myself and accepted that I was a MtF transgender.
     You must be clearly knowing the social scenario in India and the hatred majority of the people hold against us. I am really scared to come out of the closet .
     I don't think my parents have even  the slightest of suspicion of me being a transgender. Both my parents are doctors and I'm 99% sure that they will understand and accept me as their daughter.
     I just want the added motivation to come out from you. I assumed that you were an Indian girl, and seeing that you are so far away from me in the journey of transition, you nearing the end, and I basically haven't yet started, it would help if you could help me in this difficult journey.

hahaha, that's good. Yeah, Unfortunately the scar is quite prominent. I am hoping it will fade with time. The doctor had that it wouldn't be that visible. Guess, I knew there would be a scar and was okay with it hoping it would fade with time. Let's see.

Hi Saira,

It's a good thing that you realised about yourself quite early in your life. Unfortunately, I had realised this when I was around 23, and it took me around 3-4 years to come in terms with the hormones and get ready to undergo the operation. Although I have had my SRS, I am still early in my transition. There are still a lot of work left and due to my career and work I could not transition full time yet.

I know the situation here, but things are evolving. In Metros people aren't really much concerned about these stuff nowadays. I would love to help you in any way I can. Also question I know the populace is mostly Hindu but I see a lot are covered in veils in docu's .... do women have to wear a veil thingy ? I been watching docus on and off in India for like 6 months

Thanks definitely, it's going to be fun! BTW, am planning to be there at Olmec for my FFS (forehead reconst and rhinoplasty) in the month of Feb as well.nTry to plan for a few additional days if you haven't visited India before.  New Delhi being the capital, is a cultural hub with lots of monuments and palaces around, most of them even I haven't yet seen..lol.

Yeah there are a lot of women covered in veil. There are  both hindu and muslim communities, so I reckon the women you have seen belong to muslim community. But there are also a good number of women (Hindu as well) covered in veil due to the pollution here, lol.

BTW, also wanted to let you know about few concerns, which are important to know, and I wanted to wait to confirm whether they would be really an issue or not. 3 weeks post-op am getting worried about these:

1. Tummy Bulge - So after the operation, I reduced a lot of weight. I have always had some fat around my abdominal area, but it really wasn't much precluding. I noticed, however, after operation that my tummy was bulging out. At first thought it was due to the operation and stitches (due to sigmoid colon). I noticed that a lot of it has subsided, mostly was  swollen which now is okay, but still there is some bulge. I will be going for a follow up this week and plan to ask whether this is still swollen and if other patients face this issue as well. I am hoping it keeps reducing over the net few weeks.

2. Bowel issues - I was on a liquid diet for around 2 weeks after the surgery and slowly started soft food, and later back to normal food. However my stomach is still not habituated. I feel there is a lot of air movement (gas) and if I have any bowel movement I am unable to control is much, making it really tough to stay outdoors for a long time. I really hope I have not developed irritable bowel syndrome and that this gets better.

3. Also I had recently told that doing the dilation normally, I noticed a lot of discharge, which has reduced a little. It is still a little smelly.

I had decided to go for sigmoid colon as I know am very careless and was scared that the vaginal opening would close if by mistake I skip a few sessions of dilation over time. That was the major concern given my schedule. I hope the above issues settle down otherwise they will be a major concern...
