I really don't know. I'm a 62 year old female. Lot's throughout my life would make more sense...
This sounds familiar

My 82 year old mother's reactions to many things in my life makes more sense now. I asked her a few days ago if I had any surgeries when I was born. She said, "No. You were not born with anything extra. You only had an embilical cord." I didn't ask her if I was born with anything extra. I will try asking her again.
I'm going out on a limb here. Maybe mum has seen your lifelong search for your defining masculinity - the pain and heartache that has ensued, and the drive from somewhere deep within keeping you going to try to get some answers. Maybe she is saying that it is ok to be yourself. All of yourself.
The "how and why" questions for some are simple (I'm probably a DES son, at best second generation), and others more complex - and the start, middle and end are questions. There are a good bunch of FtM here, who will be able,to answer from a natal female perspective, and our intersex boards too will have a lot of answers that may help. Unfortunately practices vary from state to state, country to country and that inconsistency of itself means that many of our US family (and elsewhere), can have wildly different knowledge or experiences..
Welcome again, I'll go make some tea
Sno.
