Hi guys.

I'm not 'transgender' per se, but I want to talk about the confused gender feelings I've had. Anyone able to recommend me a place to talk to someone anonymously?    I want an actual chat, one on one, with someone trained. I know there are chats for depression, I'm wondering if you guys know of an anonymous online chat for gender.

Snidi,

Sorry I do not but a bunch of red flags come up for me on this.  Chat rooms tend to draw people who are trolling for Trans*.  I believe you will find that this is a pretty good place to carry on a conversation.  There is also a chat room here at Susans.  I've only joined once or twice and there were people there.  Individuals here can offer non-professional suggestions and answers to your questions.  Try us out.

Professionals, I hate to say it, don't really care who you are, your name, address etc... you are just one more person who comes into their office for help for an hour every so often.  To be honest even giving a therapist your name is only for record keeping.  They are sworn, by law, to keep what you say to themselves (unless you threaten someone etc...)

I know I was nervous when I went to see my first therapist, but you get over it, quickly.

- Dee

P.S.  My first therapist told me she had many high powered lawyers and politicians from all over northern Illinois.  She doesn't really care who you are, she just wants to help.

Are you wanting a support chat or a professional?

Our chat here is anonymous. You can choose any name you'd like, it's not linked at all to your forum account though it seems many people do use the same name in both spaces. You'd be able to chat with the group there. You could also request to send PMs to individuals that you think would be able to help you. I'm sure any of the operators/moderators there would be happy to chat one on one with you.

If you want a professional, there are a few online therapists that conduct their sessions either via Skype video chat or in text based chats. I would personally recommend Dr. Graham Peveller. I worked with him for my referral letters for surgery and found him to be excellent. His rates are also very affordable.

I think I want to speak with someone one on one, but anonymously.   Is Dr. Graham Peveller willing to speak anonymously?   Either that, or perhaps messaging someone here on the forums.   Preferably someone familiar with bi/gender fluid identities.   Anyone here willing?

I'm up for it, Snidi. I have an anonymous Skype. You can PM me.

In case all else fails, http://switchboard.lgbt has an online anonymous one-t-one LGBT chat service from 10am to 11am every day, British time.

Anything that occurs with at therapist is anonymous and if they bill your insurance is only sharing the coding and the fact you saw them with them and nothing more. So in that sense no around you will know your seeing them at all. It is totally private. I saw my primary therapist when I was seeing one via Skype too and no one had any idea unless I told them. You need 4 more post before you will be able to send PMs so I am going to give you something to look at until you you reach the required post count. The first link is our WIKI where the term transgender is defined and possibly you may find something that will fit you. The second link is "the transition channel" were a gender therapist will help you explore your feelings. I would be happy to PM with you but I don't know the questions you have and without a 2 way link, I don't know what you want to know.

Bummer.   Well, essentially, I want to be able to stay happy in my birth gender (male), especially because I don't want to change to be female.   (I think).   Though on the other hand, I feel like I've felt female before, though I feel like I've felt male too.   It's hard to put these feelings into words.

Part of me wonders if I'm in denial though, and fears not changing my gender.   But on the other hand, I really don't want to change it.

It's hard to come to terms with what my true feelings are.

What you are feeling is felt by others on the site. There are two ways it can express it's self and one is somebody wants to change there gender but yet enjoys some of the advantages of their birth gender. The other would be the Non binary which can take a number of form. Bigender or gender fluid people have their gender switch from one to the other. Sometimes the switch can happen from one moment to the next and other times it may take days or weeks. The other part of non binary is people are a mix of both gender. An example might be a women who likes some male activities but is comfortable being a woman. In the non binary the mix is greater and somebody may say they are 30% male and 70% female.

Naturally this can cause issues because it's difficult to define a life that makes on comfortable all the time. Some people cross dress from time to time and that makes them comfortable. Others mix wardrobes to reach the point where they are comfortable. Altering ones gender isn't always the outcome of self discovery and on this site, we don't push for any particular outcome other than to find what makes you happy and comfortable with yourself.

The real problem is the feelings you have are always going to be with you so you need to find a way to live with them. Besides presenting differently, another option for MTFs is starting HRT. We have members who have done this and the reduction in testosterone reduces the strength of the feelings enough that they can continue to present male and hide the changes that HRT cause. it Doesn't work as well with FTMs because testosterone is very powerful causing visible changes relatively quickly.

To help you understand yourself, make two list. One list is why you want to want to remain male and why you would feel more comfortable as a female. It's difficult for many of us to face this decision and many on the site have waited years before finally deciding so you are in good company.

I posted these links earlier in the thread and if you haven't looked at them, you should .
