Kathy..your remark reminded me of when I got a Border Collie puppy in 1974. I came up with a unique name..the name of a childhood friend in Haiti, whose name I'd always liked..Benji.

That was just before the famous movie "Benji" came out..and suddenly, every time I'd tell friends my dog's name, they'd say, "Oh! You named it after the dog in the movie!"

I think we're just on the brink of a massive gender revolution...

Today, 1 in 20 people identifies as gay. Although some even say 1 in 10. 50 years ago, you could not even openly discuss it. Being born trans was estimated as 1 in 10.000 chance a few years ago. Right now, I hear figures around 1 in 3000. And this number keeps on declining.

It's time to heal. People need to heal.

I am not normally a National Geographic reader but under this circumstance I went out today and bought this issue. I am very excited at our revolution and how it is making history. My friend and I sat in Barnes and Noble and read it halfway through before buying. This will be a keepsake for me because it's about educating those who don't understand us.

I read an article online that said people are threatening to cancel their subscriptions to National Geographic because of this publication.

It seems we have a different cover in Canada for that same issue...ours shows 7 different people across the spectrum.  Trans/Bi-gender/intersex/androgynous/male/female etc

  A very positive spin. I've seen other more graphic operations on YouTube in the past with the prolific posters, some that were on this forum but they went away or changed their sites that rarely mentioned their transgender status. They have moved on. National Geo has done a lot of good programs in other areas lately.
