Robyn, when people start to work for a living in what used to be a hobby, they often lose interest in it as a hobby. It's no longer a recreational activity, as it becomes a way to earn a living. We generally need a different activity for recreation than we do for work.
Often other hobbies fall by the wayside as new activities enter our lives, both as work and mon-work activities. Transition acts as another activity, taking the place of hobby stuff. I find I'm not tinkering with electronics as much, and am more involved in social activities now that I am no longer a hermit.
