Hey ladies,

I really need some help. I used an epilator a few weeks ago and I am now noticing that I am developing red bumps and ingrown hairs. Most of the ingrown are just below the first layer of skin. They are not red or infected, but if they curl under further they could. I can use tweezers, but that is going to take forever to do my whole body.

What tips do you ladies have to remove the redness and heal the infection areas? And what tips do you all have for breaking the skin for those other hairs?

I've only had this problem ONCE from laser, they went away with a mild hydrocortisone cream (1-5%?) Should be readily available at any pharmacy.

As for the ingrown hairs? This is going to hurt like a B but it'll work; Glycolic acid creams, 5-10%. Typically for blackheads and razor bumps ect.

Witchhazel (diluted) to calm it down as well.

Very curly hair is much more prone to becoming ingrown, regardless of the method used to remove the hair.
To lessen redness, use Hydrocortisone Cream. If infected use Neosporin or Bacitracin topicals.
If this is a persistent problem, consider professional hair removal, either laser or electrolysis.
Puncturing your skin with tweezers may lead to scars. Do not do it. Seek professional help.

I found that the indescrimenent ripping out of hairs by an "Epilator" results in immediate pain and a lot of buyers remorse.

For tiny fine hairs it may be OK.... For deeply rooted, pre-HRT, male type hairs on legs, arms,  and abdomen..... forget it. Plenty of future ingrowns, red bumps, and worse
