Author Bessel van der Kolk, this is an important new (2014) work on the effects of trauma on the mind and body.

This is probably a difficult read for people who've been subject to abuse, trauma or neglect. It brings a lot of things for me that I've known vaguely into much more clear focus and thankfully also offers insights and tools for dealing with PTSD. The very positive side is letting me see the things I've addressed. It's also good to be able to see where there's more work to be done, I feel like I have something like a roadmap that didn't exist a week ago.
