So I', a year and almost two months on HRT now, and I know this may sound cliche, but my breast development has been discouraging. About four months in, I had some positive results starting, and throughout the the time after that, they started budding more, and shrinking. It was a constant up and down. Now it feels like it's been three months, and nothing is happening. If anything, they have gotten smaller. :/ Should I be worried that they're done? I know they take a while, but is a year, and two months giving me any indication? They're tiny. :/ I at least want to feel that I have some.

I keep asking the same question, i've been on hormones about the same time as you, and had growth for the first four months but absolutely nothing since! I am so hoping that i will get another growth spurt, but am starting to get incredibly discouraged that they are as big as they are going to get.

Hi Red and Dana,

Are you taking oral Estradiol? There have been reported problems in breast growth for mtf's using oral Estrogen. Are your testosterone and dht levels low? These can both reduce breast growth.

Riki

Trouble is, it hasn't happened yet!

Yes, what are your levels? I saw a lot of filling out / rounding when I added micronized progesterone - aka prometrium - to my hrt and I'm on injected estradiol valerate which has suppressed my T to the low end of feminine range.

Also, are they erogenous? That's mattered to me more than size, YMMV of course.

I think the same thing happened to me.  I just measured recently and realized that they may have become a little bit smaller.

It's a difficult measurement though!  It's not necessarily all size, but we're trying to beat some major trade-offs as we start in the game late.  For one: The stuff during the first few months didn't look very natural or round, and even though it may be smaller, the shape looks much better now in my opinion.  I've also been super mindful of my nutrition and exercising.  I can tone certain muscles of interest, but I cannot choose where I lose or gain fat very well; I may have a smaller bust, but my waist is much smaller now too, and so I feel like I've beat the trade-offs really well...  maybe you have too?  I'm not even presenting as female in public, but I certainly "male fail" hardcore.

Just something to consider.  I'm taking Estradiol orally if this may be relevant.

Hi StillAnonymous,

The research done on oral Estrogen indicates it's not as smooth and even delivery as patches, and it does make the liver do more work! These are not as important as the last issue which is that oral Estrogen can reduce Insulin Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) by 15-40% which is produced by the liver. The IGF-1 levels are very high in teenage girls going through puberty and their teenage years. Once we reach our 20's it gets lower, and lower again as we get older. This helps the breasts to grow so quickly in cis girls teenage years and researchers now suspect this is why mtf transsexuals have smaller breasts than their cis relatives.

It could be worth having a chat to you endo and see if you can change?

Thank you for the help, ladies. I am currently on the patch, and stopped oral estradiol about two months ago. Almost feels like shortly before that was when I started regressing. :/

Dana60

Thanks all. I changed to an implant about a month ago, and also started bio-identical progesterone at the same time. My levels prior to that had been good, but haven't been checked since i changed to the implant.

Some people have difficulty absorbing estrogen through the skin. Your next blood test will tell you if you are getting sufficient estrogen with the patch. The other problem is that patches last less than a week so people who wear two at a time alternate changing them. One will be changed on the week and the other mid way through the week. This will help even out the dosage so you don't get the end of the week drop.

Definitely check with your doctor and get those frequent blood tests. They should be good about adjusting dosages and delivery methods to get you the best results.

Sometimes we just get what we get. But a year is zero time really... you can look at it this way... you're about 1/5th the way to maturity.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

Ive beeen on Estrace since 2008, and barely a B cup. At my age (51), Estrace Wont have much impact anymore.. I'm sure if I had started hormones younger, I'd have slightly bigger boobs. My mom was only a B...so I sort of had an idea not expect much.
Personally, boobs are the least important concern for me then and now. Sure, I could go for breast augmentation, but why? My hubby likes what I got 😜
