What would you choose...?

As most of you know, I'm not afraid to stir the pot and so I have a provocative question I'd like to ask.  This comes from a couple of other threads where people talk about desiring female beauty.  Here it is:

A fairy princess appears to you and says, "I offer you two choices.  Even though you don't like being a man I can make you into a handsome successful man, or I can turn you into a woman but I have to warn you that you'll be short, fat, ugly, and have terrible acne.  Which do you choose?"

[Disclaimer: I am making no personal comment about looks, weight, height, or acne, I am drawing on a stereotype here for illustration only.  If anyone finds this offensive, I'll withdraw the post]

I'll save my answer for later.

I'd go with the woman.

1) Fat: You can loose weight
2) Ugly: Plastic Surgery
3) Acne: see 2
4) Short: Nothing a pair of six inch heels wont cure.   ;D

Hmmm wait a minute considereing 2 and 3 and as it stands I'm going to get most of that anyway,(Surgery that is) I think I would just say thanks but no thanks, I'll do it myself.  >:D
And what kind of a fairy princess are you anyway?  :icon_poke:

Oh yeh Dawn, don't forget we have FtMs too so the opposite

Fabulously gorgeous supermodel type or
Short, fat, ugly, bald headed man with wolfman type hair all over your body.

Cassie

Dennis

Absolutely and without a second's delay, I'd choose Mr. Wolfman. The very idea of looking like a supermodel gives me the creeps.

True enough but I just couldn't resist the short fat bald headed wolfman guy reference.   :icon_evil_laugh:

The girl.

As Cassandra points out, the body you described would be a fixer-upper.  And I'd just have to develop a radiant personality to overcome the obstacles you've built into this thought experiment ;-)

Wow, Dawn !!

While I was getting dressed this morning I was actually thinking along these same lines and had considered posing some thoughts myself-- VERY ironic that you brought it up and I'm glad you did, because once I started my day I forgot all about it...  :)

For anyone who doesn't know, I'm a GG.  As I was dressing I was casually reflecting on my body type, and I shut myself up real quick when I told myself, "But I'm a girl, and I didn't have to struggle for it."

I'll tell you, I certainly have tried on different lenses since coming to Susan's....it really makes you think, you know?

Of course I realize that pre-transition you all were always girls on the inside (or guys, for Dennis & Crew) , so I don't mean to suggest that the external is all that makes one a man or a woman...

If I had to choose between staying the way I am, or becoming a total knockout in a guy's body, I'd definitely wanna' stay a girl.

Incidentally, Dawn, no offense was taken at your question, it was well-stated.  The truth is that there are such things as fat and acne and crooked teeth and bad hair....so to not recognize such things is silly.  But whether those things make someone ugly is all relative.  I've been infatuated with people who have had those and other characteristics that society says are 'ugly', and yet to me they were quite beautiful....

Too, perhaps there is no person so beautiful as the one who becomes who they were meant to be... meaning in all things, not only sex/gender...

Anyway sorry to ramble on like that, and my apologies for intruding, I understand you probably intended to get TS viewpoints and here I've written the longest response so far.

XO,
Valerie

It's Okay Valerie. You're welcome to add your thoughts. The boards are open to all regardless of the category or question as long as one stays on topic.

I'll take the short, fat, ugly, and have terrible acne.
As Cassandra post
Quote1) Fat: You can loose weight
2) Ugly: Plastic Surgery
3) Acne: see 2
I won't mind being short.

Wolfman. lol, being a fabulously gorgeous supermodel would just be like... gah, no way.

Of course, that's only if I had to pick one of those, I think really I'd pick neither. :-\

Tell me, have you been peeking into my window in the morning? I made that decision a long time ago. I told a co-worker that I may be the ugliest woman in the world, but I will be a woman someday. I am that now, I am a woman. No more surgery for me.

I think you are a lovely woman Sheila. Whatever would give you any other idea?

Except to comb my hair in the morning, I don't have to look at myself so ugly doesn't matter.  Neither does acne.  Fat?  I'm living with too much of that already anyway.  Short?  I own a ladder!

Anyway, ugly is as ugly feels.  I know what being a man feels like.

So, conjure away and give me that magical GRS (and send the bill to .  .   .    .)

Darn you Cassie, I was going to reply with "handsome successful man" (tongue in cheek of course.)  :( Anyways, I agree with Dennis.  I would hate to be a supermodel, and I would definitely go with wolfman.

1 - (Short) I'm already short.
2 - (Fat) Eh, I work out.  There are fat athletic people out there.
3 - (Ugly) whatever.  It's better than looking in the mirror and seeing the wrong gender.
4 - (Wolfman) Ahwooooooooooooo!!  :icon_weee: I don't go to the beach much anyway.

So whats behind door number 3 cause that fairy needs to get a life. A girl of course but I am not going to let some one dictate to me how I will look if I choose the second option. The only fairy I know charges a lot of money for the operations and as we all know you get what you pay for. I would be suspicious of that little fairy and try to find another opinion (hehe).

Exactly! Who cares if I wouldn't be the best looking girl in the world, just being a girl at all would be enough for me.

Not to ressurect an ancient thread, lol, but it's too coincidental I just stumbled upon this right now, as I had just written in my journal,

"It's funny, but I once said a long time ago, that it's not so much wanting to be female, it's wanting to be HER, whomever she is."

So I actually might hesitate a bit before choosing to be the girl you offer. Not because she's short and ugly and so on, but because she's not ME. Yes, I'd be female finally, but I still wouldn't be me, if you know what I mean. I'd probably still pick it as the lesser of evils, but with some hesitation.

In my journal, I was musing that I've always been haunted by this very specific image of a girl - the girl I assume I was supposed to be. I can SEE her in my mind's eye. I can FEEL her body as mine when I close my eyes at night. I often recognize bits and pieces of Her in other people - hair colour, eyes, body physique, and so on. It's an odd thing. It kinda reminds me of how the guy in Close Encounters felt compelled to mold the tower shape, even though he didn't know why or what it was. In some odd way, I feel compelled to mold "her."

But now we're getting into the depths of my insanity here, lol, so I'd best stop ;)

I'd go with the woman.

1) Fat: You can loose weight (I need to lose some weight)
2) Ugly: Plastic Surgery (SRS, nose and chin probably  :P)
3) Acne: see 2 (so far I don't have them but in case I get them; see no.2)
4) Short: Nothing a pair of six inch heels wont cure. (true, but with 178 cm I'm not exactly short  :))

as Cassandra points out, the girl of course, I know that I'll never be perfect as the real women's are but I will try to look the best I can . I'm sure only in this whatever I'll look like, it will still be better than it's now when I'm trapped in this men's body ...
