So I never used to be one of those who didn't have to shower every day in the past, but typically I shower every day and my scent never attracted any attention after a long day of work.

Not so anymore, lol. Now I'm reminded why some guys keep anti-persp deodorants among their stuff at work and use em through the day.

I am kind of a clean freak and if takes two showers a day I'll do it, but sometimes that's not an option... and I have this aversion to strong smelling deodorants and perfumes or whatever, a lot of them just make me heave and give me a headache. So in the past I always used neutral smelling deodorants or ones that just smell like "clean" rather then trying to mask with a smell.

I have to give up those now as they just don't work. I could get away with using Dove sticks which are woefully ineffective now. Problem is stuff like men's Sure seems kinda weak too, as does the stuff designed specifically for people sweating buckets with sport or nerves.

My question is what types of anti antiperspirant/deodorant did you find more effective once T kicked in. Sprays? Sticks? Gels? Rolls? Did your habits change? Maybe I just need to ditch the idea I can go a full day on it and have to remind myself to put some more on halfway in. It's typical the ones I don't mind the smell of seem to be weak.

I don't smell horrendous imo right now but my SO's like "go shower, you smell like a beast". He would say that, hes one of those people who apparently have no sweat glands, and pull faces at any smell they ever notice in the world ever. At least I only smell like a beast up close, I'm not fumigating the room yet. ::)

The mix I found that worked for me was Zest bar soap and Right Guard regular deodorant. Antiperspirants worked very badly with my body. So badly that even after being washed, my shirts had a nasty oder to them when they were ironed. I still use them though with the testosterone out of my system, things have greatly improved.

I guess everyone's very unique, I could never get by on just deodorant used after a shower, it seemed to make things worse somehow. I'm better with the stuff that desiccates. There used to be an antiperspirant-deodorant in a squat green metallic bottle my ex used that always worked but can't remember the brand of it.

Maybe I should look into harsher soap, too.

I have been lucky and the run people away with the stench has not hit me yet. I still use the same thing I always have Ax Dark temptation body wash, deoderant and spray. My ex got me hooked on it and I love the scent. Hopefully the scent glands will continue to behave

I've never had a smell but I am a sweaty dude. I shower in the morning when I get up and will shower again in the afternoon/evening if I do anything strenuous during the day (go for a run, lift, work is just really busy).

I use a body wash from Japan (Shiseido Seabreeze Body Shampoo Cool&Deodorant) that is supposed to help with sweating. It does seem to cool me off and keep me from sweating too much for a few hours after I shower. It has what I think is an aloe smell? It is very weird and takes a bit to get used to but it's not a scent that really clings to you. Even if it did, it may be better than whatever your current smell is.

For antiperspirant and deodorant, I use Dove Extra Fresh. It's a white solid. It doesn't seem to wear off for me at any point in the day. I reapply if I shower or I've been sweating a lot. It doesn't have a very strong scent to it, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're trying to mask a smell. There was an Old Spice scent I used to like that had a pretty strong scent. I think it had a wolf on it, very good smell IMO. If you're looking for scent masking, I think Old Spice beats any of the Dove products I've tried.

I also found that it's helpful to trim body hair in places that are difficult to air out while wearing clothes. Armpits, downstairs, your butt, etc. And doing your laundry regularly. Don't re-wear clothes if you can help it. Especially don't re-wear undergarments. I feel like that could make someone smell funky pretty quick.

I think you're talking about Mitchem deodorant. Smells great.
A few months ago I switched from old spice anti-persp to Every Man Jack. I've used old spice anti-perspirant because I was a gross sweaty teenager and it was the only thing that helped me not sweat through my deodorant by the time I got to school. However, in the interest of health (that stuff works but at a price of how many chemicals it has in it) I switched to an all natural non-anti sweat one. The switch was awful for about a week I smelled HORRIBLE but now just the one application in the morning does it. Or it used to until I started T. Now I have to apply maybe twice or three times a day depending on what I'm doing. I'm in collage and I'm home a lot throughout the day so its not that big of a deal but maybe when I graduate I'll have to reevaluate my deodorant game.

Yeah... I'm hairy like a beast and I smell like one to match. Back in the day, I actually didn't even have to wear deodorant and I could wear the same clothes several times in a row (like during camping and such) without becoming even remotely offensive.
Now? Man, if I don't apply deodorant right after my shower, I'm a muskox within half an hour. Perspiration has increased greatly, as well, and no matter how many steps I take, my fiancée says I smell quite 'gamey' after a trip to the gym.

Anyway, I've found that bar soap really strips out all the funk, oil and sweat so I use it on my pits and other key areas. I was using gel stick deodorant for a while but, while it did seem to tame the smell, it did nothing for sweat control and it always felt gooey/wet in my pits. I switched to doing a base layer of a solid white stick (Degree Black and White to save my dark shirts) and I touch up throughout the day with a couple swipes of a gel stick when needed.

I also have to shower every day. Honestly, sometimes twice a day if it's hot as hell or I've worked out a lot.
So yeah, the routine has been altered significantly. I can still remember the first morning I woke up, stretched my arms over my head and instantly got hit with manstink. It's never been the same since then.

Someone mentioned operating at a hotter temperature than before T in another thread and I think that's a factor - I tend to sleep in a tshirt and I'll sometimes wake up with my chest soaked. Which is gross but it seems there's nothing I can do because at this point I still loathe sleeping without something on. Waking up like that, you smell of fresh sweat rather than old sweat, which ain't terrible but it's still eurgh and slightly musky. I wonder if it responsible for making more sweat through the day as well, since I haven't changed what I do for a job.

Like Max said I'm not one of them who can wear any clothes more than a day in a row unless they're jeans. Can't stand it, even if they seem clean. I do trim some of that hair too, but it's regrowing at a stupidly fast rate. My lower body aspires to be a werewolf when it grows up.

I always found more of it to be diet related. I used to barely sweat. Diet changed. Sweat like a fiend. (Wasnt pleasant smelling either.) Eat better, smell better sweat less. I havent yet noticed any changes on horomones. I still use a sport deodorant/antiperspirant but Im fortunate to only have to use it every once in a while. (Like when Im extra active ect.)

What kinda diet caused you to sweat more?

I made a [hopefully permanent] lifestyle change in December to quit sugar but I don't reckon it's had much effect on this.

I'm currently using one of the old spice ones and there are days that I can break through just a single application.. and I haven't started T.

Sometimes though, I find I need to switch back and forth between different kinds because it's like my body gets used to it so it stops working as well. I can't use the gel ones because I sweat straight through them.

I've always run a bit hot, which my ice-footed spouse loves in winter, but that didn't used to add onto how much I sweat.

Play around, you might end up doing something similar to what I do and rotate different deodorants.

Processed foods. Fast foods. Deli meats especially. Basically the less healthy my diet, the grosser my scent and the more I would perspire.

Giving up sugar, additonal salt *cringe*
It all adds up. I barely drink anymore either.

I eat pretty healthy but definitely couldn't go full veggie or anything out here - it's a good thing there's no burger joint or KFC for miles but getting specialist stuff is also hard... and, I'm lazy. I'll eat a bag of apples for dinner rather than bother cooking sometimes. Or sit there eating tuna from the can because I'm classy like that. But it's also to break the love affair with food.

It's got a lot better since I just started cooking for myself instead of 2 people. I reckon before that I was eating too much and eating what they liked and that was usually stuff with red meat which I'm not that into. Might be the meat that's unhealthy to eat so often, maybe it doesn't help with oily skin. But they keep saying to eat omega-3 and the like... I must get enough of that being the mortal enemy of all things with gills/fins.

I met a guy once who described himself as a "militant vegetarian" - he was a cool guy, but he had this theory that eating anything with mammal DNA not only interfered with your own DNA but made you smell bad. Heh, maybe he was crazy or maybe he was on to something, who knows.

i sweat more being on T but i still don't have bad body odor. i use old spice deodorant and body wash. i also wear cologne. i can't use the gel deodorants because it gives me a rash so i use the powder ones. nothing really changed for me with what i use. mostly i just change up the smell. i find that old spice deodorant has some strong deodorant smells that can mask B.O. also, i have heard of men using women's deodorant because it helps with the smell/sweat way better (go figure).

I don't smell like a hot dog stand, but I dunno, sweat has a more... acidic sort of smell now? I'm bugged about masking it if I do actually need a damn wash.

Today I thought I'd stick to using up the Dove stick and about 6 p.m. went and added some Sure Invisible Ice. that seems a good combination. It's 1 a.m. and I still smell acceptable. (Or imperceptible).

I'm starting to have trouble with how my binders smell even if I just throw them in the wash. Gonna start looking at the 48 hour anti-perspirants they have here (Rexona etc) but I have trouble with breathing in certain spray deodorants as well. At the moment I'm getting by with Lynx (Australian Axe) and the fact that I don't smell anywhere near as bad as most of the guys I work with

One of the changes I noticed straight away from T was now my body idour was a lot mustier and sweatier; not pleasant  :P. I switched from Lynx to a drug store brand 48 hr deodorant which causes me not to stink; although I have to use a lot of it every morning otherwise I'll likely sweat through it in just a few hours. I wouldn't say it smelt strong either; definitely not as strong as lynx. I also recently used a Sure for men deodorant; can't remember which one; which worked the same.

As for diet it's not great. Still prone to eating the occasional chocolate bar, crisps and chips. But I do eat most days two portions of veg a day and don't eat greasy junk food so not sure if my diet is affecting my smell.

I actually used to be able to get away without using any deodorant. I just didn't sweat much and didn't stink when I did. I still used it, especially in the summer, of course, but if I forgot it wasn't a big deal.

Now? Ha! The only one that has worked for me thus far is Mitchum 48h. Personally, I use the unscented one. I'm not a fan of it being gel, but at least it works. Granted, I haven't tried some of the other 48h deodorants because I'm just not into the scents they have, but this stuff will be good for the whole day for me. Everything else goes to shambles after only a few hours (maybe 5h on a good day) and I start to stink pretty bad.

Not sure if this makes a difference but I always shave my pits - I prefer the look and the hair tickles lol

I got a t-shirt at the thrift store and when I brought it back and washed it, I realized it smelled pretty sweaty. I wasn't about to just toss something I bought, so I looked online and tried one of the things I saw. I got some Febreze for fabrics, the "extra strong" stuff or whatever it's called. I soaked the offending areas with it and let it sit for a good 2 days then washed it again. Worked like a charm. Might be worth a try.

If clothes don't seem fresh after washing them then next time they need washed use baking soda.
