Just wondering if there have been any meet and greets with the people on this forum. I'm in central Florida and would love to meet people here that live near me. To be honest, the generic LGB meetings are not that inspiring.

If any of you here have met, how did it go?

Post if you would like to attend/organize a meet and greet. :icon_chick:

It would be so awesome to meet any of you fine girls and know that I'm 100 percent accepted, and in turn, know you are as well. :)

Well I'm in Australia but I have met several of the Aussie girls on Susan's. It has always been great.

In Adelaide we also have a monthly meet up for people, trans or not, newbie or oldie, we get about 20-30 people and it is always fun. Some of the new people are naturally nervous but since there are others who have been transitioned for years we can help each other.

Oh, I'm so jealous! I wish I could participate in a meet-up. I'm currently living in a southern Thailand town so that's not likely, but I suppose that could change at any time.

Because of the Thai Buddhist culture I'm actually surrounded by people of mixed gender, but here it doesn't seem to be any kind of an issue worth mentioning. I see transmales with their girlfriends and transwomen with their boyfriends but there aren't any support groups because they just get on with their lives as is.

One of my friends is a pretty Filipino transmale, but he doesn't seem to care about it, although openly admitting that's what he is.

Cindy, that is awesome, like Raell, I'm Jealous!

I feel so isolated at times ... there are zero pure trans groups here in central Florida where I can meet and talk with people like me.

Well I started to organise it until I found people willing to run with it. You can do that as well.

Are you seeing a therapist or an endo?

In which case you tell them that you are organising a meet up group and can they help spread the message. Most therapists will jumper joy. Then ask if they know some solid people who may be interested to help and give them your contact email. Organise a meeting in a coffee shop and get to know each other and decide if you want to do this.

If you are interested so far I'm happy to take you through the whole process step by step. It's good fun!

Can vouch for these as I attended the meet Yesterday. There was 17 or so I think, it was the 2 year Anniversary for the group so we had a raffle and a cake...nice!!

I hear there's a regular trans group in Sydney, organised through meetup.com.

I really need to start looking into stuff like this around where I am. It'd probably do wonders for my confidence.

I meet with a bunch of ppl at our monthly pflag meetings, but it seems that most of the meetup groups around here are oriented to the mtf not many guys, not sure why

Not people from Susan's, but we have FTM social groups in DC in addition to support groups.

You could also try Meet Up. I've never looked into what might be available on there that's trans related, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something in a decently populated area.

Since my insurance changed in January I have a new doctor who I'm still getting to know, which sucks.

I'm not very outgoing, I'm more the girl in the corner nervously twirling her hair.  ::) Perhaps I'll try and create a meet-up thingy. My kingdom to meet a girl like me here to talk to in person ... that would be awesome!

I know there are several of us up here in the Pacific Northwest. Surprisingly I can find very few support groups here in the Portland, Oregon metro area.

I have to admit we get very few men attending the meet ups and my personal opinion is it just reflects the standard gender norm. Women tend to like sitting around talking to each other and guys don't.

If you look at the forum stats you will find the men are badly outnumbered. Either there aren't that many of them or they prefer to transition in private. I don't really know the answer to that one.

I have met some of my very best friends here that happen to also be transgender.  One girl and I realized we were only 8 miles apart and became nearly inseparable during early transition.  We needed each other and never tired of talking trans, unlike our spouses and other friends.  I also met Julie here, a couple of em :D  I am traveling to Scottsdale next month to support her during GCS and recovery.  I love my friends and feel so very fortunate to have them.

Jeanette, I am heading to Portland this Friday and dare you to meet me at the Portland Q Center for the 7 PM trans women's group.  I have not been for months as my girlfriends and others started our own Q Center out here in Astoria.
You have my info girl.

We are everywhere and we just have to smile and say; Don't I know you from Susan's Place?  Why yes, I go there to get my nails done..... ;D
