So I am already scheduled for SRS at PAI with Dr. Sutin on May. I was planning to go alone but my mom is considering coming with me now. She will kinda freak out and flight tickets are expensive but she wants to help.  ??? Do people usually travel alone? Would it be better to have someone with me there?

Anything I should buy before flying there? Any places I must see in Bangkok? I'll probably have one or two days before surgery.

Also I am considering getting tracheal shave in addition to SRS. I feel it is costly too but she is willing to pay. It isn't that big but still can be noticed if I am not conciously trying to hide it. Does anyone get "clocked" because of her Adam's(Eve?) apple? I heard non-trans women can sometimes have it but I haven't seen one that's actually noticeable. My mom says she has it too but it is different. Maybe partly because she has more fat in the area.

How is the recovery from tracheal shave like? I get anxious before surgeries and especially general anesthesia so I want it all done in one time. (if I decide to get tracheal shave)

Yes cis gender women have Adam's apple. Some even vlog on utube bout it

Do both at the same time. I had my BA at the same time as my srs and it was so worth it. A little more discomfort for less time under and all that comes with it

mszoey Yes that makes sense. It doesn't sound like tracheal shave would make recovery that harder anyway. Have you had your surgeries abroad and if so did you have someone there with you?

TinaVane I looked for those videos now and yes they have noticeable adam's apples like mine. but they also mention they are uncomfortable with it because people get curious and/or think they might be transgender.  ??? (Not that being transgender is bad but I don't want random people to know)

Hi xFreya!

I'm a PAI girl, about 3 months post-op now.  I went alone and had no issues at all.  Pai does a really good job of taking care of you from the moment you get picked up from the airport to getting dropped off for your return flight.  I never felt lost or uncomfortable being there alone.  You get someone assigned to you who pretty much looks after you. Things like calling you for appointment reminders, sending the driver to pick you up, taking you to the hospital for your pre-surgery tests, etc.  They really make you feel welcome and if you have any questions or concerns you can just call them.  If you stay at the Salil Thonglor, they have a relationship with Pai, so its really nice because they'll cater to your needs.  They brought me breakfast to my room every morning after the surgery :) I had a really early return flight home which meant I had to leave really early, but Pai even called me which was at 3 in the morning to let me know the driver was on his way, which I thought was incredibly nice of them to do.   If someone can go with you that's even better, you'll have more support and you won't get lonely.  But, going alone is totally doable in my experience and wasn't hard at all.  Netflix worked on my laptop so I had endless entertainment hehe

Thank you I am more confident now I can do this alone :) She might still come to support me but we'll see. Are you satisfied with your results if you don't mind me asking?

Hey!

Sure no problem, I'm incredibly happy with my result :) It definitely exceeded my expectations.  In the beginning there's a lot of swelling so it's hard to get an idea of what it'll look like exactly, but even then I was pretty happy with how everything looked.  And now, I don't have anymore swelling and everything looks really nice.  Also, if you have any concerns or are worried about anything you can always email them and even attach pictures once you return home.  I did a couple of times and they've always responded really fast usually the next day :) Oh yeah, I also had Dr. Sutin, so you're in great hands!

Another Dr Sutin girl here: for both orchiectomy and FFS. He's not only a lovely person he's a quite superb surgeon. I'm totally blown away by what he has achieved with my face. He's absolutely brilliant.

You're in top hands.

Seems he did an awesome FFS, you look great.  :)

I've decided to get tracheal shave and SRS together hope everything goes well.

I had mine done with brassard. Which is about 4 hour drive from home. But even at the recovery centre they make you do a lot yourself and when I got home I had little to no help even tho I do live with my mom. I know a b/a is not the same and I don't know how painful the trach is but I do know recovery is fairly similar. And I know being out under as little as possible is a good thing in the long run
