Whats a spider?

Hey, i was looking at the bottoms of Susans page not too long ago and it said something  like (dont recall the real numbers) 138 users on, 34 guests, 4 buddys , 7 hiddens and like 21 spiders .... Whats a spider??

If you look at the bottom of that list you will see google, yahoo and several other search engines. Spiders are software that looks for new/updated pages and transfer that information to the search engine. If you make a post on Susan's, often that post will appear in the search engines within a few minutes thanks to the spiders.
