Do I need to brush my teeth after taking estradiol?

So I usually take estradiol after breakfast, but sometimes I forget and end up taking it at night before I go sleep. I usuallyour do this after brushing my teeth so I don't have to wait 10 minutes for the medicine to dissolve and I can just pop it under my tongue and go to sleep.

Anyhow I was wondering if this was a bad idea and I shouldn't go to bed with estradiol in case it damages teeth in any way sitting there. I assume not because it gets absorbed, but I want to know for sure.

I should note I have sensitive teeth and use the Sensodyne toothpaste to help with that.

Putting my chemist hat on for a moment, I would say no for the estradiol itself.  Looking at the structure of it, it won't be causing any major PH balance issues or feed bacteria.  It's a multicyclic carbon structure with only two hydroxyl groups to make it interesting.  Basically it's about as inert for your teeth as one can imagine, and there is very little of it in each tablet.

That said, the fillers in the tablets are the thing to look at.  Looking at the ingredients for Estrace tablets (the others are likely very similar), the bulk of the fillers are basically quartz (silicon dioxide, it's in everything), a bit of corn starch, and a bit of lactose (which is a form of sugar).  The corn starch and lactose isn't the best thing ever for your teeth, but it isn't like popping a sugar cube into your mouth either.

Of course brushing your teeth after the fact would be the ideal situation, but doing this on occasion isn't going to rot your face off either.

Drink water and rinse your mouth, if you do not taste something bitter, rinse again, otherwise, remember, drink more water and try again.

Oh yes rinsing would definitely be the next best option.  I didn't mention it because she was talking about going straight to sleep after popping a tablet under her tongue.
