I came out to my mom as trans. Then she came out as trans, too.

I love this article. :)

I came out to my mom as trans. Then she came out as trans, too.

It made it easier to find out she was going through the same thing.

The summer before my junior year of high school, I came out as transgender. I'd been raised a girl, but knew that I was really a boy, and it was time to transition. What I didn't know is that the person I'd always called "Dad" was about to transition too. The same year I came out as Alexander, "Dad" came out as Mom......

I suspect it runs in families. This could explain why we get so much grief from our families when we finally do break out.

Funny you mention that. Although my mother is adopted I do have an older cousin who is very much against me transitioning, or as he puts it ''just trying to help you''. He says that any mild feminine intrests I had as a kid dont matter or make me trans because he too did the same things. Plus, when he figured that I wouldnt have my ''manhood'' restored that easyhe tend to avoid me or just make snarky comments...... Makes me wonder lol

Well, about two years ago, shortly after I got back from my first Philadelphia Trans-Health conference, my son came out to me as trans.  In fact, they were the one who got me to start HRT a couple of months later, and I went with them for their first visit to the sperm bank.  (They want to reseve the option of having children.)

I don't know how much support I've been to them.  They're on the autistic spectrum, so they're not good about talking about feelings, and what is being trans about if not feelings?  But they spend most of their time on (or is it in?) Second Life, so maybe they're talking about being trans and trans feelings and such in Second Life.

That's 2 red flags. 1. his morbid interest in "trying to help you." 2. the childhood experimentation.
I've got some people in my family with see-thru glass closet doors too.

Hahah nice. This makes me feel a bit better. He definently tries to play the man card but now I am starting to question him. He also tried to debate me about my sexuality. For starters, I mentioned I was bi but am unsure if i see myself with another man in a marriage/long term way. He then said that he thought he may have been gay too and had fantasies about some guys in his teen years. Basically, in a way, trying to say that he doubts im bi and am just a stirght cis-gender male :/

To his credit though, he is very open towards other gay people and has many gay friends. I guess its just me he tries to make out to be a stirght dude :/. I am not too sure about his position on other trans-people, but i kind of got a gut feeling he isnt too big on them.

Me too, my oldest who is non-binary sent it to me last night.  While she's not looking to transition, it basically mimics our story.  I took her coming out to me and my wife in order for me to finally admit who I was.  This is a great story.
